I have a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop which has Windows 7 Home Premium installed. I wish to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro with dual boot Windows 7 ultimate. Also I wish to keep the HP software utilities which allow me to switch the two graphic cards my laptop has; Intel HD graphic card and ATI Radeon graphic card. Is this possible? If so kindly inform me how. If not possible kindly inform me any other way. Best regards:worthy:

Is your HD partitioned into two drives; C and D? If so, you would need to run the Windows 10 upgrade on the Windows 7 drive that you want to upgrade. Then whether those old HP drivers and utilities will still work is a question. You could look on the HP web site to see if they have posted drivers for your laptop that are for Windows 10. Many vendors didn't go back that far, Windows 7. Good luck.!

Shrink your main partition. Clone the first partition to the empty space, using Paragon, acronis, easus, whaterver.

Add the second partition to the boot menu with easybcd (if not done automagically by the partition utility).

Check that both of your win7 installations are booting properly.

Upgrade one of the two to win10 (I suggest the second one).

Afaik a friend of mine had a lot of headaches with those HP VGAs, especially with older W10 builds, but I think he succeeded to have a working setup. (not sure if with a fully working switchable graphics, but his machine is working nicely now)

Anyway, in case of failure, just boot with w7, delete the second partition, enlarge the first, and your PC will be the same as it was before the whole process.

Thanks T-S for your valuable reply. But as I mentioned my laptop has Win 7 Home Premium and to get Win 10 Pro I should have Win 7 Ultimate installed on my laptop. Is there a solution to that?

Before doing what T-S posted upgrade Your HP to Ultimate using a Windows Anytime Upgrade Key.

Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...
  7. Exactly and also save the (full) BIOS

I you don't want to deal with partitions, just use a virtual disk (VHD).

Just add one step upgrade the second win7 to win7 pro or ultimate before upgrading it to win 10

No need to insert the key.

Just skip the request. Then the daz loader will insert the right one for you.
