Quick question: If I want to install WIndows 8 Retail X64 to my existing configuration Windows8 Pro X86, can I just make the upgrade or I must format the entire hard drive?
If you have a 64bit capable system just create a separate partition, if necessary, and install the 64bit version on it - will automatically create a dual-boot menu.
unfortunately, you can't upgrade. as Ms. Alba pointed out, you will need a fresh install. start backing up your documents
You need to do a clean install. You need to do a clean install. You need to do a clean install. You need to do a clean install. You need to do a clean install.
yep you can. No problem to run a 64 bit os on a 32 bit primary os in VMware edit: the machine must be able to handle x64 architecture of course
You asked: To be precise: you could NOT run VM-Ware 64bit on 32bit Windows (environment), you CAN run 64bit Windows on an 32bit VM-Ware installation under Windows 32bit (as long as the hardware is 64bit compatible).
You can install the x64 guest operating system around the 32 bit host if your hardware is compatible with x64 architecture. To see if it is compatible, use the CPU-Z...
I just download CPU-Z. I can't post pictures yet, but under the CPU Instructions is this: Instructions: MMX(+), 3DNow (+), SSE, SSE2, SSE3, X86-64, AMD-V. Here where is X86-64, is that mean that's machine compatible for W8 X64?
