I use the LTSC version of Windows because of less bloatware, more privacy options and less problems related to updates and over-tweaking. I heavily tweak my windows installation, with the Home/Pro editions updates and/or apps sometimes breaks for the more weird reasons (I do not blame MS, I know its my fault, btw I'll still continue to tweak my OS as mush as I want).

I play lot of Destiny 2 and some ppl in the clan play on Xbox, they do not want/can't to use discord (even if it is actually possible to use discord with the last Xbox update thanks to the new browser).

I do not want/like to install the whole store + install xbox apps + create a ms account and login just to use a voice chat (while also having another overlay forcefully injected in the GPU rendering pipeline).

Is creating a barebone minimal spec VM, with just windows installed (probably Home N) and nothing else, my only available option? If yes. What VM should I use? I'm used to Virtual Box but I've never tried sharing my USB mic with the VM (but it probably works since it is a cheap plug-and-play default driver USB mic).

Are there more viable options? Both regarding VM software or workarounds to the main problem (lack of standalone Xbox voice chat app / need to install a whole app eco-system just to use a voice chat)?
