    Hi,

I have a XFX x58i motherboard that is having some difficulties. I was running a GTX 285 with 12G of RAM but recently upgraded to a GTX 770. After doing so, the computer starting lagging horribly with the CPU jumping between 15 and 90%. during the course of my troubleshooting I removed all of the RAM except 2G and it starting working fine. As soon as I install another 2G stick, CPU goes crazy again.

I spoke to EVGA and was told that the problem should be fixable by XFX if they release a new version of their BIOS. He stated that their may be some argument happening in the Northbridge and it could be fixed just not by EVGA. I don't think that is going to happen so I decided to tackle the problem myself although I have no experience with BIOS modification.

Before I started this I wanted to ask, do the experts here at this forum think that I am on the right track, or am I wasting my time?

    Thanks for reading, :).
