XP can not recognise windows 7's shared folder

    I have 2 computers one running XP the other win 7.

    win 7 can enter xp's shared folders but XP can not.

    How to solve this puzzle?

    I'm not a 100% certain, but I think both machines have to belong to the same workgroup/domain and of course the logged in user must be a member of same.

    Also pretty sure this topic has been searched for in Google a 100 million times, so try that as well.

    You should check if Windows XP can deal with long share names, and if there's a difference in NTLM authentication strength vs. Win7.

    I gave up on SMB long ago, so I dunno for sure.
