XP Mode activation under VMWare7?

    Is it possible to activate Windows7 XP mode under VMWare7?

    Got it running fine under VMWare but it asks for activation.
    Ran the slic dumper toolkit in XP mode VirtualPC and it shows no slic/slp info.

    Yes, it is possible. You have to edit Vmware BIOS to have the string

    in DMI (learn how to do it or ask somebody to mod for you!)

    (this is the string already included in VIRTUAL PC AND XP MODE FINAL RTM BUILD 7600.16393.20090922-1800) that is why it activates in Windows 7 VPC!

    I can extract the VMWare bios from the exe but where exactly does this string need to go?

    Of course, BIOS mod will work no matter what, even if you have it set to false

    I'm not gona give up this easily but will try next year when I've spare time & will be back with the result, presently I don't have time to spend on this silly activation:rolleyes::rolleyes:
    Currently will run in vmlite:)

    It definitely does not work in a default setup (no mod of any kind) on W7 Enterprise x64
    BIOS needs to be modded & xpmode.enable="TRUE"

    I will test it on other flavours of Windows 7 & also on other version of Windows (I only use server W2K3)
