If you Google for "DDK_XP.ISO", you will find a bunch of hits that you can download. Details:

    File: DDK_XP.ISO
    Size: 146,276,352 bytes
    CRC-32: 39fb8992
    MD4: f1617ed6c50439844b12696c7e05d8e1
    MD5: add294e46849d80b89c0f67662598136
    SHA-1: 8b844f601963e71fdae3fcd80c89acab2423be1b

Examining the ISO in a hex editor, you will notice that it looks like a genuine Microsoft ISO, and it has AutoCRC. However, there is junk in the file after the last AutoCRC entry, starting at offset 0x8b2e000. If you cut away the junk, you are left with:

    File: ddk_xp_cut.iso
    Size: 145,940,480 bytes
    CRC-32: ffffffff
    MD4: 6a7a08f4cbeaf4705200ecba3f8c20c3
    MD5: c0dca3443be4d79f1f4b73d250b535cd
    SHA-1: baf312cb543ec8d4156ad66c4be5cbda32825621

You can see that the CRC-32 is now the expected ffffffff as for a genuine MS ISO with AutoCRC. I therefore have a high confidence that this cut version is the original Windows XP DDK ISO.

May be the junk is nothing but padding data.

The junk is mostly zeroes, but there are a few non-zero bytes here and there, which is what's throwing off the CRC-32. So yes, it's padding, but it should be cut away.

Also note that CRC-32 can be adjusted on purpose. So a skilled, malicious person may have altered files in the ISO, this is not a guarantee that it's an untouched ISO, just very likely. Won't know for sure until the SHA hash can be dug up from somewhere (Googling it gives no result).

You should be able to use it for XP as well, and since there is a direct download link from Microsoft, you can trust it's original.

This thread confused me, especially with Oz deleting some of his posts. Which one is the correct info for VRMOPK_EN.ISO?
    This one from page 1:
or this one from page 2:
