Hi all on this lovely sunny day, I have been messing and trying to make myself a Windows XP Pro x64 Dell OEM disc. I have downloaded an SP1 disc image. I have extracted the files from the image. I have downloaded the files to make it a Dell OEM but i get an odd thing when i compare it to making a 32 bit disc. When i copy the OEM files over in the 32 bit it askes if i want to replace files...Fine.. When i copy the files into the 64 bit I386 folder it does not ask if i want to replace any files, When the disc is burnt and installed i do NOT get an activated 64 bit machine. Do i need different oem files to activate a 64 bit machine. I have looked a couple of times and i do not see different files fo 32 and 64 bit. anybody with any ideas.
Well i finally made myself a working OEM disc, installed very nicely. Tested the validation status and got this message Validation is not currently supported for this version of Windows or for this non-Microsoft operating system. It appears that you are using an operating system that is not currently supported by the validation process. Only the following operating systems are currently supported: Windows XP Home Edition Windows XP Professional Windows XP Starter Edition Windows XP Media Center Edition Windows XP Tablet PC Edition Windows Vista Windows 7 I did try to download WMP 11 from M.Soft and it installed some "installX" thingy then allowed me to download it. Does XP Pro x64 SP2 not validate in the same way as the rest ? Or have i done summet wrong to get that message.
Thats a good thing then ? Just looking at the list of OS's and there is one there i have never installed, XP Media Center. I might have to hunt that down and have a mess..
XP MCE and XP Tablet PC are the same, just use different serial and you get the other version. You will need the OEM version of either, TPC also came as Volume, but MCE didn't, so no serial around for that one.
