Greeting to all, and thanks in advance for any responses. With end of support for XP, I have more friends coming to me for upgrade help. I have been using the Win7 .iso's found here for quite some time, but I ALWAYS have done a custom/full install, with a loader afterwards. So my question is, can I use the upgrade option with a loader to avoid a clean install? The XP machines are activated, mostly OEM, some VL with a corporate key. I did search the boards a bit, but for some reason I think I remember reading to always do the clean install. Thanks again for any responses and help.
As far as i remember correctly there is no direct upgrade path from XP to 7. That would need upgrading XP to Vista then Vista to 7 . No guarantee for success either.
I would go for a total fresh install. Backup all your important files. Hunt down the drivers for your board and graphics card, place on a USB ready to get things going properly. I rather enjoy doing a new install, I must do two or three per year on my machine. Keeps things smooth and clean.
