XPPro MCE OEM SLP mod - mainstream (en) MCE SP2=>SP3 @Suicide Solution: Thank You so much for Your detailed alternatives!! Thank's to You and others in this Forum - You are giving me hope that I may soon be able to use the MCE I once paid for!! - Is it really possible to do this with one nLite tweaked installation - and immediately after update from M$? The reason I ask is that I had big problems before I did like this: 1) Installed MCE 2) Installed DOTNETFX 3) Installed MCE codecs from separate PowerDVD - from here MCE works 4) Installed MCERollUp2 5) Installed SP3 If I, instead of above, will follow Your options - where in the process is it then wise to: - install MCE codecs from separate Cyberlink PowerDVD? - install MCERollUp2, because I think it is not possible before PowerDVD? - install SP3, because I think it is not possible before MCERollUp2 - install updates from M$? I have been collecting M$ Updates (almost every month) in the AUTOPATCHER Tool since the end of 2005 to be able to: 1) Re-install my computers independent of internet threats, including Firewall-, Antivir-, AntiSpybot-, Registry tweak- etc. software before going on line 2) Choose which Updates I want to install Hence I can roll back each computer within 10-12 min to whatever time backwards I want (because I have made total back-ups along the way) - in order to find out which combinations that work while installing WXPP MCE... in case there was a problem. My german MCE setupp.ini looks like this: [Pid] ExtraData=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (30 alphanumeric characters) Pid=xxxxxOEM (5 digits before OEM) Meanwhile I assume it is also possible to use "EDITED CMD files" and "substituted, from GER to ENU en-us packs" in the $OEM$ dir. - Do You think this will work aswell? My german MCE $OEM$ dir looks like this: \$OEM$\ADOBEREADER.CMD <<== CMD calls for installation dirs below \$OEM$\CMDLINES.TXT <<== CMD calls for installation dirs below - EDIT # in front of not needed / not wanted CMD lines \$OEM$\DOTNETFX.CMD <<== CMD calls for installation dirs below \$OEM$\KB884575.CMD <<== CMD calls for installation dirs below \$OEM$\KB885894.CMD <<== CMD calls for installation dirs below \$OEM$\KB908246.CMD <<== CMD calls for installation dirs below - EDIT GER=>ENU en-us pack XboxMCE05Lite-enu.exe \$OEM$\KB912024.CMD <<== CMD calls for installation dirs below - EDIT GER=>ENU en-us pack WindowsXP-KB912024-v2-x86-ENU.exe \$OEM$\KB912067.CMD <<== CMD calls for installation dirs below - EDIT GER=>ENU en-us pack WindowsXPMediaCenter2005-kb912067-ENU.exe \$OEM$\MCE_CLOSEHW.CMD <<== CMD calls for installation dirs below \$OEM$\MCE2005URP2.CMD <<== CMD calls for installation dirs below - EDIT GER=>USA en-us pack WindowsXPMediaCenter2005-KB900325-usa.exe \$OEM$\NETFX2.0_X86.CMD <<== CMD calls for installation dirs below - REM LANGPACK.EXE <<== not needed / german \$OEM$\OEMLOGO.CMD <<== CMD calls for installation dirs below \$OEM$\PISTART.EXE <<== EXE installer for performing CMD call installations below \$OEM$\RECOVERY-INFO_MCE_MAR06.CMD <<== CMD calls for installation dirs below \$OEM$\SUN_JRE.CMD <<== CMD calls for installation dirs below \$OEM$\ADDON\ \$OEM$\ADDON\ADOBEREADER\ADBERDR707_DE_DE.EXE <<== not needed for installation of MCE \$OEM$\ADDON\KB884575\KB884575.EXE 367,7 k <<== needed for installation of MCE - change to en-us version KB884575.EXE 362,2 k - Prevents Battery power may be drained more quickly than expected on your Windows XP-based portable computer \$OEM$\ADDON\KB885894\KB885894.EXE 761,7 k <<== needed for installation of MCE - change to en-us version KB885894.EXE 759,2 k - Prevents computer stops responding when you try to install an update in Windows XP Service Pack 2 \$OEM$\ADDON\KB908246\XBOXMCE05LITE-DEU.EXE 20,7 M <<== needed for installation of MCE - change to ENU en-us pack XboxMCE05Lite-enu.exe 20,7 M - according to my searches XBOXMCE05LITE version is for systems already updated to MCERollUp2 (XboxMCEFULL-ENU.exe is for pre MCERollUp2 systems) \$OEM$\ADDON\NETFX2.0_X86\DOTNETFX.EXE <<== needed for installation of MCE en-us version!! \$OEM$\ADDON\NETFX2.0_X86\LANGPACK.EXE <<== german / not needed for en-us installation of MCE \$OEM$\ADDON\OEMLOGO\OEMINFO.INI <<== not needed / can be added later (Branding OEM logo in System Properties General screen) \$OEM$\ADDON\OEMLOGO\OEMLOGO.BMP <<== not needed / can be added later (Branding OEM logo in System Properties General screen) \$OEM$\FSC\ \$OEM$\FSC\KB912024\WINDOWSXP-KB912024-V2-X86-DEU.EXE 542,7 k <<== needed for installation of MCE - change to ENU en-us pack WindowsXP-KB912024-v2-x86-ENU.exe 534,2 k - Update Rollup 2 for eHome Infrared Receiver for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 \$OEM$\FSC\KB912067\WINDOWSXPMEDIACENTER2005-KB912067-DEU.EXE 2,9 M <<== needed for installation of MCE - change to ENU en-us pack WindowsXPMediaCenter2005-kb912067-ENU.exe 2,9 M - January 2006 Update Rollup for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 - Update Rollup 914548 supersedes Update Rollup 912067, but will be changed when connecting to M$ I assume \$OEM$\FSC\MCE_CLOSEHW\ADDTORUNONCEEX.CMD <<== needed for installation of MCE - run once, I don't know what this does?? \$OEM$\FSC\MCE_CLOSEHW\HARDWAREWINDOW.EXE <<== needed for installation of MCE - run once, I don't know what this does?? \$OEM$\FSC\MCE_CLOSEHW\INSTALL.CMD <<== needed for installation of MCE - run once, I don't know what this does?? \$OEM$\FSC\MCE2005URP2\WINDOWSXPMEDIACENTER2005-KB900325-GER.EXE 29,0 M <<== needed for installation of MCE - change to USA en-us pack WindowsXPMediaCenter2005-KB900325-usa.exe 29,0 M \$OEM$\FSC\RECOVERY-INFO_MCE_MAR06\CREATELINK.CMD <<== not needed for installation of MCE \$OEM$\FSC\RECOVERY-INFO_MCE_MAR06\CREATELINKDIRECT.VBS <<== not needed for installation of MCE \$OEM$\FSC\RECOVERY-INFO_MCE_MAR06\RECOVERY-INFO.HTM <<== not needed for installation of MCE \$OEM$\FSC\SUN_JRE\JRE-1_5_0_06-WINDOWS-I586-P.EXE <<== not needed for installation of MCE / can be added later \$OEM$\FSC\SUN_JRE\APPLETS\ \$OEM$\FSC\SUN_JRE\APPLETS\CHRONOLISA\CHRONOLIS.HTM <<== not needed for installation of MCE / can be added later \$OEM$\FSC\SUN_JRE\APPLETS\CHRONOLISA\CHRONOLISA.CLASS <<== not needed for installation of MCE / can be added later \$OEM$\FSC\SUN_JRE\APPLETS\CHRONOLISA\CLOCK_HELP.TXT <<== not needed for installation of MCE / can be added later datcat
XPPro MCE OEM SLP mod - mainstream (en) MCE SP2=>SP3 Comparing -XPPro OEM disc (FSC-Fujitsu Siemens Computers) with -XPPro MCE OEM disc (FSC-Fujitsu Siemens Computers) I noticed that the: -1st disc has Windows Media Player 10 in $OEM$\ADDON dir -2nd disc has not What does this mean? -Should I include Media Player 10 on an MCE computer making an nLite SLP OEM MCE disc or -is it somehow in conflict with MCE? The two OEM discs have approx. the same age, 2006-03-29 versus 2006-04-18.
I'm not 100% on this, but I would guess it uses its own "engine" to output video along with help of any custom codecs you have installed and media player. I think the role of Media Player may be functions to burn disks from Media Center, and some other music related tasks, etc. Don't take this as fact however. Maybe the Eula for your Media Center may give better details on what its role will be.
the problem is everyone thinks Nlite Vlite are kewl only if you know what you are removing. aint gonna say any more it cant even do unattended install only addons.
Just created an ACER OEM XP MCE SP2 from a Retail MCE with the tips found here. Thanks for all the info
