I have just bought this router, it appears to work well but I want to improve its performance with an external [outdoor exterior] antenna. At present the download speed is around 50mb but the upload speed is 0. Outdoors I get very good readings with my phone [same SIM] so its probably the structure of the house that's the problem, I don't need to boost the signal I just need to get an unobstructed signal to the router. My knowledge is not great with these things, antenna prices start at around £15 from there the sky is the limit. Reviews vary a lot and I suspect its as much to do with location, provider and signal strength as product quality and capability. The router has two SMA sockets, some antenna come with one cable and others two. Does connecting both SMA sockets make much of a difference over one when the signal is good? A single cable antenna is half the price of one with two, I guess there are actually two antenna inside the two cable variety. Any observations, suggestions and recommended products would be appreciated. I considered 5G but the cost is far greater than 4G, also 5G in the UK seems to have a lot of problems and may even be abandoned from what I have read recently.
Little britain again My brother has the same problem . He lives in a town with 20000 residents but he only has wifi wich isnt reliable . Did you talk to your landlord ?
No problem erecting an antenna, just baffled by the kit, its all Dutch to me. 5G looked promising, amazing speeds where I am but so expensive and so much bad press. Trees being cut down left right and center because they interfere with the signal, faulty masts not being repaired or replaced, some have been down for nearly 2 years. Also talk of ditching 5G because 6G is just around the corner. 4G is tried tested and relatively cheap. This will do for me [outside the property on my phone]
