Is it possible to change the bios through clip, to write another manufacturer's with characteristics similar to my model?
When I open the bios file for my ASRock Z97 Extreme6 MB (Z97Ex62.70) in MMTool 5.02.0024.exe (from the above link), it fails saying "The input image is not Aptio V". From my research I believe that the Z97 is an Aptio 4 image but I thought that MMTool works for Aptio 4 and V. I think that AMIBIOS8 is "legacy", non-UEFI and would not work with MMTool, but both Aptio 4 and V are UEFI and should work with MMTool. Is that wrong? I can open the image in UEFITool_0.22.1.exe. I have tried saving a file without the top Cap container and that gives the error in MMTool. Am I using the wrong tool on this image or something else? What tool set work ASRock z97 Extreme6 images? Details: I am running the tools under wine on Ubuntu 16.04. Wine just worked with no tweaking. I got the image file from the ASRock website from the "Instant Flash" download option of the latest (2.70) bios. I am doing this mainly to learn more about bios and modding. I am interested in pre-boot execution to obtain key/secret to unlock OPAL encrypted disk to integrate with my equipment resource managment package. --BobG
