Yeah my C:\ is only a 60 gig SSD meant just for the operating system I try to keep just the drivers on the C:\ and the program files on the other drives so I don't run out of space but it's hard to do that sometimes with certain programs that don't let you change the target directory so it's a bit of a mess unfortunately. Yes I used driver booster because it's so hard to find up to date windows 7 drivers these days for my board being there is windows 8.1 and 10 now and gigabyte do have official up to date windows 10 drivers on their website for my board so I might eventually swap to windows 10 if the errors continue - do you have to re arm windows 10 over and over at the moment? Have already used DDU to freshly install the graphics drivers but yeah if the errors continue I might just back up my C:\ with Acronis and slowly migrate my files to a more up to date operating system. I did a scan with AdwCleaner and it didn't really find much so I guess I don't have any detectable spyware from using driver booster but I think I should use the drivers from the gigabyte website rather than these dodgy driver booster ones.
I actually ended up reinstalling Windows 7 and using cmd during the setup process to use mklink along with some registry hacks to make it so that all the program files and user profile files are stored on a separate 3TB HDD. Haven't had any problems since disabling the settings in the bios so far so I might just stick with Windows 7 for now and if I have any more problems I'll upgrade to Windows 8.1. What is the best Windows 8.1 edition to have anyway? Did you use any programs to get the classic start menu back?
Yeah I think the c state settings were causing problems too so now I'm wondering if windows 8.1 would be able to do the power saving without causing the computer to blue screen. Probably saves hardly any power anyway. There is a setting in my bios that I could enable if I was running windows 8 though but at the moment it's set to other os so it makes me think it would be more stable with windows 8 being it looks like my motherboards designed for it. However it looks like on the gigabyte website windows 8 uses the same outdated drivers as windows 7 but the website has offical windows 10 drivers that have been created this year.
