I have recently upgraded my internet connection with Virgin Media to 1Gbps or 1,000 Mbps I have the latest Hub 5 as part of the package, I connect to the internet via ethernet cable on all of my computers. I have a Linux laptop which when using the speedtest app I get 980 Mbps download and 100 Mbps upload speeds which is what I expected, I also have a Windows desktop and Laptop and when I used Speedtest on them I only received 500 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload speeds. I Googled the problem and an app called TCP Optimizer was recommended, I used it on the Laptop and set it to Windows default and saved the settings and rebooted, when I ran speedtest again I'm now getting 950 Mbps download and 95 Mbps upload speeds, I ran TCP Optimizer on the Desktop and ran Speedtest and I expected the same result on the Desktop as I got on the Laptop, on the contrary the speeds remained the same as I got previously. Both Windows machines are Acer Predators running Windows 11 Pro and the Linux machine is a Lenovo ThinkPad running Zorin OS 18.1 Pro, they are all using an ethernet connection with identical cables. So now I'm wondering what is causing the slow speeds on the Desktop? Windows Build/Version Build 26200.8457 Version 25H2
Never needed any third party app to get the max speed on my systems. I should get the same upload as download but still: My ISP speed is 4Gbit up and down, my current Lan is 2.5Gbit, host OS is IoT Enterprise 2021 LTSC..
I had the same issue not recently, for me a driver update solved it. Search for the exact NIC model your desktop has, and download latest driver.
Some ISP have congestion on their networks which slows down Upload Here, enabling BBR2, get 700M upload instead 250M on Windows 11. https://dev.moe/en/3021
