Hi, I am trying to set up 2 computers on my wired network. On one (lvui67k) of them I can see both (lvui67k) and (5h7el87). On (5h7el87) I can only see itself. Under change advance sharing settings, the both have the same values checked off.

When I select "set up a new connection on network " I can not find lvui67k". What am i doing wrong and how do I fix it?

    thx

set both to private aka home or work not public.
set time same timezone and time.
check both on same Workgroup. not needed but helps.
see if you can ping the gateway and each other.
check modem for any security blocking intercommunication between them.
reboot modem. (reset defaults if need)

Initial check that the other computer('s) are viewable at all, try the following:
    • open File Explorer
    • click on Network
    • in address bar key in the other computer('s) IP beginning with 2 Backslash, like: \\192.168.1.101 following by press [Enter]
    • That should bring up the a Log On Screen for the other computer
    • key in the username and password of that other computer and press [Enter]

If everything is set correctly, you should be able to access the data/drives of the other computer!
