But surely on Windows XP SP3 x86 you can only virtualize x86, which means that Office 2010 x64 can not be virtualized. right? sebus
Exactly, no x64 version of Office work virtualized, only working test build is Windows Xp x86. No problem with other x64 software on Windows 7 x64, it's only Office create errors.
FINALLY! After numerous messages and various issue... Edit: OK, spoon support work on it. For now i have make a thinapped Office 2010 Professional Plus, also the Help file working. Only tips you have to activate twice time, on virtualbox and your real system. But it works...
An other issue... Hi all.. Does anyone have a problem with the splash screen duration when tha portable is build with exebuilder ??? my splash screens disappear immediately !!! is there a solution for this? thnx
Hi. Are you talking about the splash screen created with Spoon Studio in Settings >> Startup settings...? New version of Spoon Studio is out: 9.4.1860.0 I have modified ExeBuilder to work with the new version, but keeping the compatibility with the previous version. The 2 links for ExeBuilder from the first post are updated... Later edit: @sokinkeso, the problem seems to be from Spoon Studio. The only way that the splash screen would be properly displayed is to start the primary exe file directly without the normal parameter that shows what to load (for example "Microsoft Office 2010.exe" /XShellEx="@PROGRAMFILESX86@\Microsoft Office\Office14\WINWORD.EXE"). The problem also appears when you build an msi installer. If you start any shortcut made by the installer, the splash screen will disappear fast. I advise you to notify its makers so they know about this and find a solution as quickly as possible...
Sorry, there were some problems with mediafire so I had to reupload them. Now the links work fine. This version is showing a start interface where the user can modify the name of the shortcuts, delete them and choose how the virtualized exes will be loaded (using full paths or using triggers). Oh, and it seems that in the new version of Spoon Studio RemSet is no longer needed, because when you uninstall the program the sandbox is now automatically deleted.
Update to Office 2010 Spoon: I have working with Robert of the Spoon support for the license problem, he have analized the shanpshot and find a way to have a working version of Office. Other news as soon as possible.
I improved ExeBuilder a little. What's new in this version: - a new column in exe list that shows if the original exe files have icon(s); - the parameter from Edit Shortcut >> Show as (Normal/Minimized/Maximized) is now embedded in the exe files; - double click on a row will switch the name of the shortcut into edit mode; - context menu in exe list; - a few other small improvements in the code. The 2 links (exe and sources) from the first post are updated...
Office 2010 News: Tested by myself. With the new version ( 9.4 ) the License problem is RESOLVED! Still remains to be solved the following problems: 1) Guide NOT working for every software 2) DLL errors for Excel and Publisher Any news soon...
So with 9.4 it doesn't show that error message anymore? And all you have to do is to capture with 9.4 and make no other modifications...?
Yes and no. Not used the classic method of capture. But finally activate Office without license error. When we find a solution to the dll (which is actually make unusable Excel and Publisher) i will publish a guide. If you want to do some test, capture only Excel and try to do some test on filesystem/registry permission. The problem is XELLEX.dll, just read the first post.
BETA TESTER NEED! I need people with Office 2010 Professional Plus in this language: English French German Spanish I'll be waiting, John
@johnmcloud Ok, I had a little time to test the capture instruction from your pm. "Scan Desktop Application" wasn't able to find the previously installed Office so I had to take the "Select application from Template" route. The capture and build process went fine, I created all the different .exe's (to start individual applications) with the help of a modified build of Catalin's Exebuilder and copied everything into a Win 7 Ultimate X64 SP1 virtual machine to test it. I didn't really care for the activation this time, but wanted to make sure that all applications are working fine. But... they aren't Starting Excel leads to the xllex.dll error, Access isn't able to create a database, etc. so in general, the 9.4 evaluation with it's Office 2010 template isn't really working that good Regards, highend
Thanks for beta-testing. I have the same problem with my version of Office. Robert from Spoon Studio say that .dll error it's a GUI problem ( i don't have a English or German version ), but,as you saw, isn' a language problem. I'll report all to Spoon support. I keep you updated
