I have an old desktop computer that has been sitting around for years. It had Windows Vista on it initially but had been upgraded to Windows 8. Since powering it on, I have updated the Chrome browser and also installed the Windows Updates. I have also used the Lazesoft Recovery Tools to recover the Windows Product Key that the Windows 8.1 64bit ISO from the Microsoft website requires for installation. Note that I am able to use Windows 8 now with no issues. However the 8.1 installation and update process from the 8.1 ISO above does not seem to like the product key which I have entered. Please advise on how to proceede.
One good solution would be to do a fresh installation with 8.1 iso and choose the pro version. However if your desktop computer can support W10 then use it.For the activation in both cases you can use massgravel on GitHub. Don't forget to backup the drivers and have a look on the manufacturer website to collect them. What are the hardware specification of this computer ?
Is there a fast way to back up the existing drivers without having to download them one by one or locate them if they don't exist on the manufacturer's website? Do you have a link to the correct activation to use?
First I asked you the specs of your computer in order to know which is needed and what is the installed OS actually. For activation I gave you the name for this, search on Google or another one. Thanks PS : you can export the drivers by using DISM in command prompt as admin. When opened type dism /online /export-driver /destination:"path to destination" path to destination is like c:\drivers or something else
I keep getting error 87 with most of what I try. I ran the dism cmd as administrator and then typed the following: dism /online /export-driver /destination:E:\Drivers\HP\a6113w I got Error 87, "the export-driver option is unknown" What am I still missing?
Do other dism commands give you Error 87? I had a similar problem here. Work-around is a few posts down. May not apply to you though.
@adric I do not see the need of just typing a point and that is not the first time. So please let this thread as clean as possible. Thank you
I have tried the following two commands with some success in Windows 10, but not in Windows 8. dism /online /export-driver /destination:E:\Drivers\HP\a61132w dism /online /export-driver /destination:"E:\Drivers\HP\a61132w" Both these commands seem to work from the HP Compaq Elite 8300 running Windows 10 but not from the HP Pavilion a61132w running Windows 8.
hmm have you checked the available drivers for your printer and the version of Windows you use on the HP website? I say this because I also use a HP printer and never had any problem so confirm...
Please admins you can close this claim as the OP doesn't seem to answer and polluate the forums with the same questions.
I downloaded the full thing as i install Windows for people and it's working really well, no more need to search each driver manually.
