Personally I did not see justification for the ban ( other than having multiple sockpuppets ) and the posts I did see were reasonable. But I am just a guest here.
At which point it becomes more a game of whack a mole rather than actually reading current posts... Been there, done that... Although by that point, in my experience, they usually become progressively more offensive and disruptive. I did not see that in this case, but as I said, I am merely a guest here.
Thankfully the system takes care of must of it before there is even a single post made. But systems are made to be broken (in my mind), so some slip through. Considering that in any major English city you have your image captured by CCTV every time you stick your head out of your home, it is way too late for Brits to worry about government intrusion into their personal lives. The British have been at the forefront of domestic spying for decades.
From what I know I can not argue what you say, however where I live you NEED a vehicle just to survive. That said I am in awe at the sheer number of traffic cameras which have been installed in this area over the past decade, let alone all the "normal" surveillance cameras which have sprung up. Privacy, in that respect, is assuredly a thing of the past.

@pishtai: GCHQ, CIA, NSA, Mossad and any other "secret agency" doesn't give a flying f_ck about any court order. They've always tapped the phones, cameras and so on in their own interest. If anyone thinks that a court order can stop that...it's funny. This court order is practically a middle finger showed to the general population, showing that they can do whatever they want - it's their "cotton plantation".
