Thats what I though. They track all activations before Oct 22 and they blacklist the keys except ones from ( MSDN, IEEE, acm , schools... ie legitimate keys)
I don't think so, Dell, HP, Acer, Lenovo etc. etc. probably have already built thousands of PC's and Notebooks with these leaked keys. I doubt MS would want to piss off their OEM partners as well as thousands of legit customers by blacklisting these keys.
How can they track an offline OEM activation? and regardless if they blacklist the keys or not there's a simple fix.... "slmgr.vbs -ipk *****-*****-*****-*****-*****"
When HP, Dell or any other pc manufacturer makes computers, they make a lot of them. It should be a crazy thing starting windows and enter manually a key on each pc they make. So they have a technique to activate windows automatically: when installing windows (the same installation disk image for a computer model) they place a SLP key in the disk image (that is obviously the same for all installations). This SLP key don't need to be verified online, windows check that the bios of the pc and the certificate installed in the pc are related, so it accept this SLP key and tells it's activated (if the bios and the certificate aren't related, windows will not accept the SLP key). The key that you find in the label of your pc is only a normal key that need to be activated online like other keys. PC manufacturers already used those leaked SLP key in their computers. And Microsoft could block them, but PC manufacturers will have to do a lot of work to replace the SLP key with a new key on the already made computers. And think at the online and telephonic support: all the legit customers call telling that his genuine windows is not genuine anymore. On the economic side for Microsoft and pc customer, it's better to not blacklist those keys.
So windows can be activated with an OEM key even though you are disconnected from the internet or offline.
means with matching slic on your bios, digital certificate and oem key it will activate offline. enough said
yes Machines are in box and on the boat to the stores do'nt think they are going to turn the ship around now unbox all of them and start over you will have to wait till jan to get it then
i just love it how microsoft was like .... this windows is more secure and all.. and all these keys are getting leeched like anything it just proves what a great job there doing...
The leaking of keys has nothing to do with the security of Windows 7. Keys will be leaked no matter what happens.
