    Hi all. :)

I'm going to be replacing a faulty motherboard with a identical model and revision.

My old faulty motherboard originally had an modded BIOS that included the Dell v2.1 SLIC.
And it worked great for Windows 7.

I have been running Windows 8 Pro for a while now and was wondering if there is any advantage to flashing the BIOS of my replacement motherboard with the Dell v2.2 SLIC instead of v2.1?

IF I decided to go back to Windows 7 would I still be able activate it against the Dell v2.2 SLIC / are the SLP OEM keys the same?

Sorry if this has been asked before, I tried searching but could not seem to find a clear cut answer.

    Many thanks. :worthy:

By SLIC 2.2, you can activate all previous edition of Windows that are using OEM:SLP activation along with Server 2012. But Windows 8 doesn't use OEM:SLP model, so you can't get any practical benefit.

So basically SLIC v2.2 is backwards compatible with v2.1.

Cool, I just didn't want to lose the ability to be able to install and activate Windows 7 again (if required).

    Thank you Tito.
