what is the point of adding this for W10MUI only if it's impossible to integrate 1742 LCU into boot.wim if the latest SSU was integrated first? 1742 LCU can't be integrated even into 26100.1 boot.wim the real question is if you should skip the latest SSU or not (I think the latest SSU is fine, and LCUmsuExpand=3 is fine, it just works just like msft intended)
"intended" is a exaggerated word to describe msft chaos changes with 26100 besides, is not 1742 LCU fail with latest SSU only via msu installation? expanded have no issues if or when they backport 26340 changes (where LCU update.cat is used to verify most sub-packages, instead .cat file for each .mum, and mumx.esd is required), then LCUmsuExpand will be dead for 26100, and "intended" msu installation will be the only choice unless we find a way to extract collection.mumx

then W10UI should reject standalone boot.wim / winre.wim / install.wim files otherwise, W10UI is becoming the same mess as msft's 26100 servicing stack upd: to clarify: I mean that the so called "default" settings are currently overrated and ultimately based on incorrect logic, it's imperfect as it always was I don't see a problem with manually setting the correct options, but in this case it's clear that "default" is misleading and incorrect
Extraction comes before detecting what's inside wim files there is 0 issues with the default enabled LCUmsuExpand with current <= 26300 updates boot.wim issue is only caused by trying to apply recent lcu on top of recent lcu that's not what even Microsoft practice with their updated ISO/ESD, always start from base or baseline version
I fully aware about the current situation however, updating boot.wim file only is not an edge case scenario, not at all, so I expect the "default" to be perfect as for default LCUmsuExpand=1 in the very base scenario (ISO as a source) - I don't mind it, but it's getting overkill for boot.wim updates only that 26340 backport changes will save as all from this mess
W10UI v10.64/10.64f comes with a significant regression on default settings integrating LCU (KB5124010 26x00.9550) + other updates on 24H2 (without 25H2/26H2 eKB). I am using Enterprise LTSC 2024 ISO. v10.63f is fine, but v10.64 does not install LCU into boot.wim, leaving a broken installer ("Windows 11 installation has failed" dialog around 10% into setup, shortly after it starts copying files). A key indicator is a different date code in the output filename. To work around this condition on v10.64, it is sufficient to either (1) set LCUmsuExpand=3 (but I prefer to leave it at the default of 0, which is then clamped to 1 for build 26100), or (2) include KB5121794 (26H2 eKB) next to W10UI.cmd (even if LtscAddEP=0).
