i searched alot and could not find solution for bios ending with 1d3b computer dell precision m6600 , can anybody help please ?
Hey OrhanAdar! I have been trying in vain to resurect a Dell E5420 but can not find a key-combo to make it read USB from boot. Did you ever discover a solution dude? Valeu!
its usually the motherboard Dell codename from schematics first 3 letters and some numbers after. some newer ones use i believe .cap file and possibly crisis EFI recovery usb. (havent dabbled much in this efi field)
Many thx LatinMcG! But for me, I'm still stuck behind an earlier hurdle than OrhanAdar; He finally found a key-combo to hold on power up to get his lappy to read the USB drive (ie: noted the activity LED illuminating) but this so far remains a stopping point for me. Whilst power supply disconnected, I've tried holding, whilst reconnecting PSU; .END key .Right arrow key .Windows key & B .Windows key & R .Fn & B .Fn & R & .each and every USB port (with different drives all FAT16 or 32) .with battery & without battery fitted But the blighter just refuses to read the USB pendrive or anything else other than show Dell Secure Manager pwd screen. One important difference is that OrhanAdar's lappy was not same model as mine; mine is a Latitude E5420 and I'm yet to discover anyone that has successfully managed to get this thing into BIOS recovery from boot. Please do let me know if you come across anyone who has. Thx again for your input!
1d3b After a lot of reading for 1D3B bios I found only two solutions: flashing EEPROM or master password. Older machines / bios was possible to downgrade e.g. like E6400A09.EXE /forceit. It does not work for E6420 because even with /forceit switch it asks for the password. What do you think if somebody could bypass the password question then could we force the program to flash / downgrade the bios? Would the downgrade be working OK like this?
All info very old to newest codes. Needed to write a new one. Nobody have 1d3b/1f66/1f5a keygens. Only needed to downgrade bios for A05 version and use svctag.exe util
Thanks, but the problem starts with downgrading. If I start E6420A05.exe it says collecting information and after that it asks for the password. It happens also with /forceit switch. I tried also svctag.exe and it says that my system is not supported. I have E6420 (1D3B, bios version A08). I booted svctag via network boot because boot from USB and CD is locked in BIOS but I don't think it was the problem for svctag. BTW, those guys who are selling the master passwords they should have a keygen. Hopefully sooner or later it will be public.
HDR method non-working for me. Only reflash by programmer. To recover pass you can reflash ONLY to A05 ver bios
Anyone try this on a Dell Desktop? - I have a Vostro 200 and 230 that are down due to freezing screen on DELL logo in BIOS.
just fixed one with 3 beeps.. had to take MX25L6406E chip off and program it in ch341A with the rom renamed to bin.. got rom from 3520a10.exe /writeromfile
reflash with ch431a take bios chip off and use the .rom from /writeromfile command of the bios exe. just had a 3520 with 3 beeps that worked.
Can you please help me find the files so I can try for mine? Cant decipher which/ what information to correlate it to?
those are desktops.. not same as laptops. best is to find the spi header and use programmer like ch341a
If you mean get just the BIOS file, run the EXE on a non-Dell and go to your User's Temp folder. The whole "set" is there, "extracted". Are you saying the BIOS in those two desktop are actually bricked and won't POST at all?
I looked up that chip. Its not expensive so I can buy it. Is there a How To > for me to use it to Push a BIOS fix? How/ what do I need to remove from the PC/ Motherboard etc?
i would make a copy of the new chip and old with bios programmer. how to desolder? hot air works best.
