Hello, i have problem with my DELL Latitude E4310 laptop, after successfully upgrading my bios revision x22 (dont know why not AXX), after reboot i got black screen and nothing happens i tried A06 bios version from official dell website. How can i recover my bios or what should i do to make him work again.
BTW i cant extract hdr or rom file from any of this model bios versions in dell website, just nothing happens after i write -writehdrfile in cmd(nothing happens) or Dos(unknown command)
Also phoenixtools writes me cant extract hdr file increase memory to 640/xxxx/xxxx right click-> properties, but i cant find phat memor properties on my windows 7 64bit
Can someone extract that hdr for me or give me instructions of how to do that
    Thank You very much!

hi, yes it is phoneix bios.whp. My dell studio got bricked when i was updagrading the bios to a13 and the laptop hanged. I removed the battery and got it bricked. Took it to the customer care said that they cannot do anything as it is an obsolete model. Took it to local shop. They need about one week to study. So need help please. I have tried everything. The fan moves. The led light of battery charging lights up but. No response. The pc does not move pls help

Thanks i will try that when i get back home. But can you tell me when we use crisdisk for used rom; why cant i use my driver for this purpose. Can u also given the much needed finer details which i can use to recover my bios. Because I have done every search possible. Looked in the nook and corner of various forums but still not a handy response. Ihave tried that method anything else please

After trying many times I am taking my laptop to the local shop. Let us see how many days they need to rectify the problem and the problems they detect and the amount they charge me for such a pretty lame thing

I have a problem with Latitude E6420(of course 1D3B). The laptop is stuck on Dell Secure Manager and I already know that there is no algorithm to generate the master password for free. What is more I have a problem with making the hdr file out of newest bios A17. The file works for a while, there is a progress bar and then it throws up an error(Win8 x64). Is there any chance to unpack this new bios and remove Dell Secure Manager from the boot sequence?

Please guys I am like really confused. I need help to flash this as soon as possible.

I am using a Dell Latitude E6500 and am stuck at the part of converting .rom to .bin (I managed to exxtract the .rom and .hdr files)
Can someone guide me with a tool that could help achieve this? Google did not help me much.

Thanks in advance. Really appreciate some guidance on this.... (P.S.: Is it possible that I could downgrade using this method? My laptop had the latest A27 before it decided it wanted to not boot coz of the Biometric thing I messed with)

    name the .hdr to MAYB***.HDR
    *** = A25 or whatever version
put in USB fat32 and take battery out.
now hold END key and plug in power cord. if its not flashing try it again but with power button also.

I've been trying this myself with a D630 and I've got the same problem, but I know there's nothing wrong with the laptop as I can flash the BIOS fine in windows.

If I hold end and plug power, battery light turns orange for 2 secs. Let go of end before light goes out and it appears to enter routing - lights start flashing and fan runs fast and it accesses the usb stick. Then it shuts off.

I've extracted the .hdr file from D630_Axx.exe by using the -writehdrfile switch.

I've tried using wincrisis to format the 128Mb usb stick, also tried fat, fat32 and ntfs.

    I've tried BIOS versions: A04, A7 and A18.

I've tried with the following file names:

    BIOS.WPH
    D630A??.HDR
    D630_A??.HDR
    BRISA??.HDR
    BRIS_A??.HDR

(Replace ?? with BIOS version number)

If I open an hdr file in HxD I can see the string BRIS?à.0BIN... HDR..PC.D630

I've also been trying to use winphlash/phlash16. I can make a backup bios file but cannot restore this, and can't restore hdr/rom files from the dell package either.

Many thanks for replying so quickly!

I'm not certain exactly what you mean by putting .hdr next to .exe and running phoenixtool - is there any chance you can explain this step for me please?

Also I thought I would let you know I'm not actually interested in SLIC. I want to get started learning how to modify BIOS files manually myself (I want to change the DMI strings actually). I thought it would be best to learn to restore BIOS first.

I've followed your advice and tried BRISB instead of BRIS but this still doesn't work. (should .hdr be upper or lower case?)

Do you know which version of bios you used that did work?

Any help will be very much appreciated - I already spent two days going nowhere with a faulty D620 that wouldn't even get the battery light orange - looks like that was screwed, now I've spent another half day scratching my head with this 630.

Thanks for your reply. However, I have tried this method with a 4GB USB Flash Drive formatted to FAT32 with a default allocation size od 4096bytes. Renamed the file to MAYBA22.hdr as stated. Tried both methods of pressing end and releasing it as well as pressing end and power and releasing it when the battery light shows orange. No joy yet. What could I be doing wrong? should I have only the .hdr file in the USB stick?

Any help would be much appreciated. I attempted to flash my Dell Inspiron 1745 yesterday with the A04 bios and it locked up half way through, now I have a brick. I downloaded the 1745_A01W32.exe Bios from Dell, extracted BIOS.ROM, and renamed it to BIOS.WPH. I created a bootable USB drive using the wincris.exe and ensured it had the 3 files on it required.

When I press and hold the "END" key while plugging in the power cord the laptop doesn't boot. The battery LED flashes white two times and never turns red/amber. I have tried holding down the "END" key for 1 sec, 2 sec, 10 sec after plugging in the power cord with the same results. Any suggestions on a different key combination? Would a USB Floppy drive work instead of the USB stick?

    Much thanks for any suggestions.
