    what makes you think 1.07 exists? if you are running it yourself now, you can dump it yourself...

    On my laptop the BIOS version is 1.05 but I read somewhere on the Internet that ACER ships new model of 5730Z with v1.07. And on ACER support page also there is just v1.05. :(

    So I would like to update my BIOS with v1.07.

    Please, somebody take pity on me!

    Did you ever get the unmodded V1.07 BIOS yet?? I can dump mine to file and send it to you. Let me know.

    Hello mate. I desperately need that V1.07 BIOS. I had v1.07 BIOS and then tried to update it to v1.08 BIOS from Acer USA site and the .exe file just blanked computer screen and now the laptop does not boot. I am hoping that if I get the v1.07 BIOS, I can follow the steps outlined above and try the Fn+Esc key method to update it from CD ROM.

    I would appreciate if you'd have any suggestions to remedy my problem.

    Thanks very much for your help.

    Hi, I have this Acer Aspire 5730Z with the elusive BIOS version v1.07
    If I input my laptops serial number into Acers download site the latest BIOS it offers me is v1.05 just like described previously!

    The laptop has SLIC v2.0 but I'd like to upgrade it to v2.1
    What steps can I take to perform this?
    And visjig do you still need the BIOS? If so do you know how I can dump it?

    hi mate,

    to upgrade ur slic to v2.1 (and activate with) u must
    1. flash ur bios with a modded one including slic 2.1 ;
    2. install a slic 2.1 certificate (an *.xrm-ms file) ;
    3. enter an slp oem key (of the w7 installed edition).

    look at this post, there is a provided modded bios for ur laptop supporting slic v2.1.

    Code:
    forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/5864-Phoenix-bios-SLIC-mod-requests-(*-WPH-or-*-ROM-files)?p=148456&viewfull=1#post148456
    but please be careful.

    good luck.

    Thanks bootstrap, I have seen that BIOS but it is older than the one I have installed right now...
    I don't know why exactly v1.07 is not possible to find online, and I'm not sure it would be wise to downgrade...

    Can I dump the BIOS I have installed now somehow?

    LatinMcG: Is it not possible to dump Phoenix BIOS successfully?

    bootstap: Thanks I used the tool and got the linked BIOS, I loaded it in Phoenix mod tool v2.14 and it was at least able to read the dumped BIOS without warnings, it's log output is below.
    I'm not sure how to verify if it's dumped correctly or not...

    Code:

    Phoenix bios can be backed up but can't be flashed back due to missing platform data.

    hi hanzzon,

    i'm afraid u can't.

    do u accept an advice from a friend?
    trust me and give up.
    if u don't want to flash v1.05 (i agree) just email Acere and tell'em to send u bios update 1.07.
    that was just an advice.
    good luck brother.

    1 thing he can try is merging platform data from 1.05 to 1.07 backup with hexeditor
