my acer aspire 5315 harddrive crashed. but i have another drive from an acer 5570z that the mothboard went. but when i install the drive it asks for security password. is there something i can do to bypass this
i really don't know. it came from an older laptop that was blown. i don't remember putting in any passwords. some people are tell me that acer,dell, hp put security passwords into the products in case they are stolen.
@ chuckman45, what do you mean you don't know. When you switch machine on does it come up straight away asking for password or does it boot to windows screen and ask for logon password ?
well the password is put on the laptop by acer. for security reasons. i contacted acer by email, then by phone. they said that the warranty was up so they can help me out if i send them $50.00. anyone know of a back door password i can try
@ did you read the info from the link above on how to reset your bios password, do you have another hard drive you can try or even borrow.
