Probably will be unusable after one month. We will need to apply every month a reset subscription script. Bulky, impractical, not useful. For many users too complicated use this script into WinPE ISO file. Mount ISO, unmount ISO. Too much hassle.
If it was created while the installed app had an active subscription, it has no limitation on creating backup. This feature does not expire either. If there was not active subscription, the bootable media not expires but you only can restore, no backup.
I had some free time, and wanted to see if Acronis has now really returned to the "old fashioned" way of doing things, and I remember always having fun with downloading the WinPE version, getting a minimal set of files ready, trying to get the drivers to load "semi-portable" in PE (= loading the services entries *after* booting PE, then starting the services manually with "net start fltsrv" etc.) I was actually surprised to see this still works. Even the serial number encoding seems to be the same as before (there is a simple way of converting back and forth from "human readable" format to "registry-encoded" format). @kianew , your pack came in very handy in that respect Just wanted to share here how creatively Acronis has now "hidden" the PE files in their installer. Here's what you have to do to get the minimal PE files from the main download if you don't want to install the bloated main program: Spoiler: Where's my PE files at Code: - Download the exe - Extract the .msi with 7z - Extract a dll file from the .msi (with a tool like "LessMSI" - This .dll is actually a .zip, so rename it - Get the files from this .zip (you don't need all, just around 100mb worth of stuff) - Split these up in program files (that you can run semi-portable in PE) and driver files (that you can load and activate "on the fly" in PE). - Drink your cold coffee [Just for entertainment purposes of course, if you want an easier solution to having this in a custom PE, there are now ready-made scripts for PhoenixPE and W10XPE] So once again it looks like the basic functionality of this program is fine, it must just be the marketing people that try to make this into something bloated and ugly. In the mean time I actually switched to Terabyte Image for Windows (which only needs a single portable 4mb exe without any extra services etc.) but it's always good to have an alternative, even if it's just for nostalgic reasons... I don't like some of the delays in Acronis: At startup, which can be hidden by some type of self-made splash screen, and before starting the actual backup/ restore), but the backups are fast enough (though slower dan TIW), and smaller in size than TIW.
hello atari800xl thank you for the WinPE advice but you can't find where to find the WinPE plus it remains in evaluation so limited in time or no need for activation key
Hmm, thanks for your reply, but I always wonder: either you're very old, or very young? Why can I never understand what you're talking about? Sorry, not meant as a personal attack, but I don't understand that you've been around on these forums for years and years, and usually ask "please make a video" in the end. And if you've been around for so long, you can't be that young anymore So what are you asking: - "You can't find where to find the WinPE". What does that mean, I explained in the spoiler how to get the files. - "It remains in evaluation". No, it doesn't, I talked about the encoding of the serial number, why do you think I was talking about that? Surely not to use Acronis in evaluation mode. So if you have any questions, please make them easier to follow (any punctuation would be great, if it's not too much trouble), and up front I will tell you I will not make a video. Have a nice day.
When making a system backup the default option always is incremental backup Work on the change it to the default full backup ...it will be more useful for everyone...
