Arent ALL version of 8 Retail versions? Can you please explain the difference between a Retail version opposed to a Volume License version so i can understand it?
I will read the thread, thank you! But please explain a bit this phrase you have written. I cant understand sicne we are taking for the same OS, Win8 that is, why there are differences? What does this mean? "This is a retail version" and "This is a VL version" I still dont get it....
With a VL version you don't need to fill in a key as @kelorgo mentioned. Just get a iso were Is NOT vl written In the file name and you can get your WMC working. I think to stay also a little bit on topic"activate win8Pro WMC"and not to talk about the differences in win 8 versions. I also read the post from @ kelorgo more clear he can not be I think.
From February however, we will not be able to reactivate the key, or I'm wrong? If we already have a backup of an activated copy of windows8WMC, can we directly restore the backup to the place of points 5 and 6?
Nobody is sure atm, but from what I heard, if you had activated the WMC key before Jan 31, then it is forever, only time can tell. On the safe side, backup the activation files or ghost the OS. I even heard that the free WMC key could actually be initial activated after Jan 31, just take it as a rumor.
Ah ok. However, can you confirm me that the second part of my post "If we already have a backup of an activated copy of windows8WMC, can we directly restore the backup to the place of points 5 and 6?" maybe valid? Thanks
The activation file already has the replaced data.dat, you can skip point 5. I have not tried the actual procedures, but from what I read in other posts, after you enter the personal WMC key, it will get activated.
The backup don't restore the wmc key activated? If no restore it and just need to insert it without clicking on active, then there should be no problem after 31 January, in theory
You can't use the WMC key for re-install because it is a upgrade key, so after restore activate files you still need to put it back in.
maybe I explained bad, sorry for my english. Install Windows 8 Pro with retail key Add WMC and enter WMC retail key Restore backup Win8WMC with Advanced Tokens Manager
Why should i replace data.dat? Al i had to do was: Clean "ProWMC" install "Activate Windows" using ProWMC key (from MS) its fully activated with wmc whats wrong with taht?
Nothing, it's just perfect for you! But you still should backup your activation in case of .............!
You can't activate windows 8 with WMC key, is only for WMC. You must first activate windows or use file data.dat, otherwise install Win8WMC + backup
Hi Faikee, need your thoughts on this; So, I have win8 pro (activated with 14.99 geniune upgrade key) + wmc activated and have 3 more wmc keys, questions are: 1- Should I activate all wmc keys now /before jan31? 2- Can I activate them using this same box/ssd? Will this make all keys bound to this current rig/box/hardware? 3- If I do this, just need to input new key using slmgr -ipk method? Thanks for any response
1. You must do. The have to be activated before that date, then they work as normal Retail-Keys. 2. Will bind them to that hardware. 3. Afaik you can enter them normally over "add features" option only. Exeption so far is using a prepared (with proper data.dat) Pro WMC ISO.
Hmm, ok; 1- If it becomes retail why it gets bound to the hardware? 3- I dont have the add features option enabled, because as I said, it has wmc already activated...? Thanks for replying
1. Afaik all retail keys act that way. 3. Don“t have likewise. Was meant for fresh imstall of win 8 pro.
