Activate win8ProWMC without first activate the Pro version

This method worked for me, Thank You (used a new "data.dat" file from a activated ProWMC system)

 

Hi, I just registered to thank you for all the info you guys posted in helping my activate Windows 8. FaiKeef's method with the data.dat file worked so thank you again! =)

 

can you tell us when you activated your copy

 

This trick doesn't work anymore, confirmed by many forums.

I just did the clean install of windows * pro media center and did the activation offline by phone, first it worked and it said windows is activated (lucky!) but then when I go online, I got "this windows is not genuine" about 2 hours later and activation status back to "not activated"

I guess they already patched every holes now

 

When you say you used a "new" data.dat, what is the precise historical sequence of the "new" data.dat?

Pro activated w/ unique retail key then upgraded to wmc?

Some KMS of some sort?

Or precisely what chain of events did the "new" working data.dat go through?

Dont seem like a server issue.
Upgrade to WMC is possible BUT nOT the activation of WINDOWS 8 Pro

the loophole seems to have been fixed.
Even activation by phone is not working

Really, this method is totally over? Fat lady has sing? Die is cast? All she wrote?

Dats dat for data.dat? No way to make less dirty data.dat?

 

Oh well, just my luck I guess. I'll be using Windows 7 for longer.

Just did some tests...

If you replaced your current data.dat file with one that had already been activated using a free key - it works ok and activates as it sees the data.dat as "Retail"

 

That sounds like good news if it works.
It also seems to indicate that MS originally never saw the KMS+WMC exploit coming and are now trying to fill the cracks. If they are only checking if the Activated OS is "Retail" then we are good for now.

 

And where can we get said data.dat?
