Activate win8ProWMC without first activate the Pro version

Not the retail key, its kizos data.dat.

 

ERROR: 0xC004C4AA ?

no offense, but does the trick still work?


I've already replaced the data.dat with both: whazzupsuperfly's and kizo2703's ones


then I've also input a fresh new proWMC key (slmgr /ipk)


but why do I always get the ERROR: 0xC004C4AA ?

Then slmgr -ato wont work but locally your system is activated , if you want to check use MS own lic tool with this command

Licensingdiag.exe -report %userprofile%\desktop\report.txt -log %userprofile%\desktop\repfiles.cab

you will get 2 files 1 cab file and 1 text file, either you can view the result in text file or extract the cab and read the "DiagReport.xml" file you should see something like this

offline activation trick really works!!!

The offline activation does really work !!!
just run the slmgr /ipk and no need to run: slmgr /ato do the trick


One weird thing, the activated date was Oct 26, 2012 instead of today's date,
but I don't care since my w8 is permanently activated

 

Is the date of activation in data.dat

 

After a while, it changes to the real date of activation.

 

I'm slightly confused here- I know that online activation of wmc key on kms-activated pro install fails. But does it work for machines where data.dat has been replaced by retail data.dat like kizos? That is machine remains genuine after slmgr -ato?

 

I have tried this with kizzos data.dat and afterwards system was no longer activated.
So his data.dat seems also to be kms-activated.

 

Nope. My PC is activated with genuine 40 $ key. Windows was retail version from MSDN.
And I also tried to activate it online,without disconnecting PC from network and it worked by me.
But, obviously, it won't work on every PC. Sorry.

 

Which message do you get when running slmgr -ato on the already activated system?

 

It gives me 0xC... error, but Windows stays activated, even after reboot. People clearly said: do not use slmgr /ato.

There is no WGA check for Windows 8 yet, so enjoy.
