It is well known that DreamSpark always provides RETAIL Windows keys. I want to clear a little doubt I have in my mind about RETAIL keys -- Does a RETAIL key really allow 10 activations (after which phone activation becomes necessary)? If yes, 10 activations on a single machine or 10 activations on 10 different machines? Can activations be done 'concurrently' (I know this is illegal, but I'm just checking if it is practically possible)? If a Windows 8 retail key K1 is used to activate a machine C1, then can that same key K1 be used to activate machines C2, C3 and so on up to C10? (Height of Greed LOL!)
1 Dreamspark key allows to activate 2 machines, I know it could be pushed a bit like Tito says, but 10 machines? You try it out and tell us LOL. Don't flame me if your key got blocked.
Will the keys that are given out via DreamSpark Premium for Win8.1 Pro Preview expire? I have not checked yet but kinda figured they where the same type of keys given via a normal public download of Pro Preview. I dont see 8.1 RTM in my account yet But I still have several 8.0 keys I havnt burned yet. ~MC
win8.1 preview is timebombed to jan2014 IIRC... It wouldn't matter if it was permanent or not. You really shouldn't use preview as your main OS. It's more of a test-machine or VM thing. It's kind-of a hybrid between 8.0 and 8.1.
I'm not interested in the media as much as I am the key that comes with it. What would happen if I installed rtm with a preview key for 8.1 that came from dream spark? ~MC
Little correction. Windows 8.1 accepts (* - edition specific) Windows 8 key type OEMM, OEM:NONSLP, Retail Windows 8.1 key type OEMM, OEM:NONSLP, Retail, MAK*, KMS:CSVLK*, KMS:GVLK*
I read the article but i did not understand a lot at first. So now , there are two type of dreamspark licences : either RETAIL or VLK , am I right ? Also , In my account it says:
