If I activate a few Windows 7 VMs using my employers MAK, will they find out?

I have access to our MVLS account, all our company Win 7 machines are activated using KMS, so i could say I used them for testing in work or could they verify the IP that each machine was activated with (i am not talking about theoretical, does it show up somewhere, such as in the MVLS account?)?

Does MAK activation require connection to MS activation servers, or is it entirely offline?

Basically, I have Server 2008 R2 activated using OEM. On that I want to setup a domain, and in Hyper-V a few VMs and another server 2008 r2 to install SCCM 2012 for testing purposes.

    Cheers all

MAK requires a connection to the MS servers, the purpose of a MAK is a key with a very high number of available activations for mass deployment across many computers. KMS is the one that uses a server on premise to perform the activation.
