    You mean release preview? Why would you continue to use an unstable developmental version of the OS that won't get updates? Upgrade to RTM Pro (may require a registry tweak) then get a ProWMC key.

    Or do you mean Windows RT (then no)

    Would it? The first one he listed apparently isn't VL, and if this trick requires activation first, and activation (for our purposes) requires VL....

    yeah, use Pro not VL. I couldn't get a Pro-VL to bring up the add features at all. Win8Pro works fine

    So (1) install "Pro" (not-VL),(2) Change to ...J8CK4 (=VL key)(3) Activate w KMS, (4) Use new key from MS, (5) Done????
    Please confirm one more time please?

    Thanks, I already figured as much, but let's just say we confirmed it once and for all (yeah right...)

    By the way, just looking at that procedure, I can't help but laugh out loud at the Microsoft strategic planners.... What a strange way of doing things (to put it mildly)

    Strange... I installed with the Pro VL key, activated by KMS, and I still have the option to Add Features. I'm just waiting for M$ to email my MCE key (30+ hours and counting) :p

    Apparently, there is a difference between installing from the *_pro_vl_* media and from the plain *_windows_8_x64_dvd_* media using the Pro VL key.

    Personally, since you can install Pro VL using the right key at setup, I don't even keep the pro_vl image around.

    Ok imagine I finished all those steps from first post successfully, if I reinstall windows 8 later which key I am gonna use to active it again?

    Did you install the windows_8_pro_vl version? As there is no add features option to upgrade to pro with media center in this version

    All you people coming here for free software need to somewhere else or pay the $15!!!! Stop being so cheep and stingy. If you want the software, BUY IT!! The last thing we need is MDL taken down because of a DMCA complaint because some A**holes are posting keys and trying to pirate something that is $15. I'm sorry if it if I seem like I'm ranting but I love this site and I don't want it to go anywhere.:blowup:

    Maybe you might want to change the title of your thread to "Activating Microsoft Windows 8 Pro with media center for free with legitimate key!" and not "Activating Microsoft Windows 8 Pro for free with legitimate key!" Since it's not really activating win 8 pro! Only pro with media center!!!
