Activating Microsoft Windows 8 Pro with media center for free with legitimate key!

    Since the test (4) and (5) were activated via online , I belive the date shown will be today unlike the other methods , in other methods the date of install in "Control Panel\System and Security\Action Center\Windows Activation" is not same as the date shown in "Extended pid via slmgr -dlv", can you confirm this.

    Yes date is of today's... screen shot attached...

    Slmgr -dlv don't show windows activation date or time... it shows Trusted time which is related to system time when command run & always change to current time...

    Edit it shows at end of ePID..

    Perfect this year has 366 days and today in 349 th day so there is a match in both the places. This is more secure that other methods, at least we can hope so.

    Yes you are right... Good point.. Just checked my other activation did yesterday with my previous WMC token. Both dates are different.

    system store ePID in token files, guess is data.dat file.. If date shown under GUI activation status is stored in registry then we can change that... Hope to find that.. If i found entry in registry, will confirm back...

    Oh dear - I just booted up a laptop I installed WMC a couple of weeks ago which was successfully activated using the free WMC key. I thought that because this had been activated before the lockout that I could use slmgr /ato and it would be OK..... WRONG - NOT GENUINE

    I guess if I have to install an OS at the moment for family it's back to Win 7...o_O

    Don't you have activation backup... Restore that...& play till another method...

    It's too risky as this laptop is going to a friend so I don't want any potential future "hassle" if you see what I mean..

    Well I installed Win 8 Pro x64 WMC from an all in one ISO.

    The install was fine and although initially it showed as needing activation all I did was enter the free WMC key and it activated - and was until I did the slmgr /ato business! but as it obviously wasn't completely legit I won't risk giving this laptop with Win 8 to someone who might moan :rolleyes: Long live KMS activation ....
