My activation date is today, with fresh WMC key.
    1. Install Win8pro and activate with macro kms.
    2. Online upgrade to Win8proWMC with my WMC key.
    3. Disconnect Internet, Copy over file data.dat.
    4. slmgr /ipk my WMC key, then got a error code like 0x8...(can't recall it) not 0xc4...
    5. Reboot. It is activated, even passed the Genuine web test.

So, as stated before, an activated retail win 8 with added wmc data.dat file can be used to do the double-swap-trick with beeing genuine afterwards when using another wmc key?
Am I getting this right? So is there someone here who can give such data.dat file to the community?

    Regards

Tested now five times, every time same result. Will test on other machine now likewise.

Tested with different data.dat versions on another VM (fresh installed Pro WMC) and got same results. All tests were online.

Sure you get the "All is good" message, but is the system actually activated? What does slmgr /dlv say? Does it still hold after a reboot?

Actually, never mind those questions in my last post, I can reproduce your result exactly and explain it easily as well. Nothing new/interesting going on.

If I understand it correctly, here is what you have done:

After you replaced the data.dat and entered your product key the second time, you immediately visited the GUI without rebooting. In this scenario, the GUI isn't quite up-to-date yet. Your system is in fact already activated, the GUI just doesn't know about it yet. I can tell this is the case because the GUI is still showing that you have no product key (Nicht verfügbar), even though you have already entered one. When you click the Activate button, it doesn't actually activate online... all that happens is that the GUI realises that actually it hasn't updated properly yet.

Edit: Here is a good way to see what I'm talking about. After you enter your product key, press Windows+D. If the watermark disappears from the desktop, you are activated.

This was to prove, neighter need to go offline nor stop sppsvc. After nearly a minute system gets activated without a reboot. Rebooted some times afterwards, activation stays.
After pressing Win+D watermark disappears, but it lasts some time before system gets completely activated, if you look under activation details.

Now if we are actually activating online as per your post then slmgr -ato should return activated response but it returns negative results, also the activation date is from the data.dat I.e the older data. dat instead of today's date.

so we are in square zero again

Never claimed doing something new. Only altered the way by kelorgo a slight bit. But i had to replace the data.dat and to enter key twice to get this result.

no i thought we found some thing new, may be a way to activate using slmgr-ato, but since that is not the case, i wrote it like that to express my opinion

Thanks for all the testing guys, too bad I haven't had time in the last few days. Kelorgo, are you planning on changing the latest Howto to include/change online/offline status (not 100% sure if offline now is necessary or not)?

If we don't need to be offline for the swap, that would allow a cleaner script (if I make one).

I prefer my description as it is. I am generally just interested in understanding, clean processes and methods, and not interested in automation. I believe that going offline during any swapping of the tokens is sound advice. It avoids a lot of potential problems now and in the future. If staying online works for you, great. There are enough people who get the procedure slightly or completely wrong, and it's better to give them the safer advice.
