have you got the actual windows 8 Pro with Media Center installed? is it from an original source? have you used some kind of acktivator from some other forums?
I've activated with the same free WMC key in different VM's and never got that message!
are you using your own data.dat or one posted here?

I installed Win8 PRO x64, first activated via KMS for 6 months, then used the free WMC key provided by MS which converted the copy in Legit permanent activation. And it was running just fine since October/Early November.

Then just 2 days ago someone on another forum asked me to check the following command; "slmgr /ato" and post the results". That deactivated my copy on Next boot. And I have been trying to activate it again ever since, using "data.dat" method posted here on forums.

I like to this so, yes. I believe following name of the iso is self explanatory.

I made a mistake of NOT backing up my own data.dat

Different VMs? :S I thought one WMC could be used with only ONE machine. And it refuses to work on any other. (I am talking about that Free WMC we request from Microsoft, and then use as "Add Features).

When i first activated a Win8 running on VmWare, that key never worked on any other place. So i had to get another key to activate the windows on my Own PC.

Well its all over the news. Everyone is facing this problem and some lucky ones have been successful in activating the windows Again, with an alternative data.dat method.

I installed from same DVD source as you and upgraded with the free key.
those installations are still activated and I never run the slmgr /ato command after it is activated!!
I am using my own data.dat from early November before M$ slammed the door on that loophole + the Jessica Alba one which works 100%.
Now that M$ 0xC004C4AA error message appears it does not mater how many times you try to activates with the same WMC key.

I have tested my bat file on various VM's, deactivated on purpose then run the script and it was activated again.

Also I always disable Smartscreen and Windows Defender and I never use the Windows store - there may lie your problem trying to activate.

A batch file I wrote, this needs to be edited at the right places and run with admin permissions.
What is required, WMC key, valid data.dat with successful activation record.

Use when you accidentally slmgr.vbs /ato, makes the windows happy and all smiles again. No reboot necessary.
Seems good for scheduled task.

Yes, the slmgr /dlv date was the same, I believe. I tested it in Vbox and then deleted it, so I can't recall every step now.

 

No, It's Pro not Pro VL

 

I've got a win 8 pro kms activated. Used a wmc key and the add features but got an error during install. I've tried several other fresh wmc keys (before the loophole was closed), but none of them were recognized as legitimed. The version is still seen as pro without wmc. How can I add the wmc files so I can use an data.dat file with one of my wmc keys?

Dear all,

I'm definitely a noob but I would really appreciate the help of you guys.

- I downloaded an ISO containing Windows 8 PRO AIO (x32 and x64) if you reckon that this is a problem kindly recommend a legitmate ISO but this one said it was Original and untouched.

- I installed this ISO and sure enough it was not activated as yet

- I downloaded an activator named KMS Windows 8 Activation whereby there were 5 different exe's (one for every different version .. N ... Enterprise .... Pro etc.)

- I ran Pro and DID not input my live account as yet I just used windows 8 locally but up till now the activator worked fine. (it popped up red text in a white console-like window)

- I am activated with key ending J8CK4 .... FOR 180 days

============== PROBLEM STARTS HERE =====

- I originally used this method again to activate first time and inserted my FREE WMC key in the hope of activating it PERMANENTLY ( I want no nags and 180 day licenses).

- I DID manage to get media centre installed but after 1 restart it popped up a message saying that windows activation is de-activated once again.

- Does the above mean that THAT WMC key is now UNUSABLE or can I try using it again?
- From what I read I got a bit confused re data.dat and being it being backed up for future use, please correct me if I am wrong.
- Does this mean that if I manage to SUCCESSFULLY activate windows 8 with WMC offline. Will I actually get a PERMANENTLY activated windows 8 with WMC ?
- I can reinstall it for how many times I want (on same machine) ?
- And use the proposed method in this thread to replace the backed up data.dat? or am I getting it wrong? I really wish if I could get some pm on the matter. I am not really keen on getting yet another windows license. But sure enough it seems that as of Office 2010 .... nobody really seems to have found a permanent crack for the KMS based activations. Correct me if I am wrong.
- I got 2 WMC keys (the old one I tried once and got the activation failed nag) so I don't know if it's flagged. I got these only a couple of days ago so I am not really sure if by now this method still works or not!

I hope that this post is of help to others maybe they avoid the mistakes I DID and I really hope that someone enlightens me!
