Apologies for the hijack. But I coincidentally read your very useful reply (thanks by the way!). There's a point in the instructions where it states that you have to take ownership of data.dat and you have to delete it from the ISO and replace it with data.dat.... where do I get the second data.dat? Also re WMC key that you can optionally put in so as to pre-activate the machine, can it be a WMC key that has failed to activate or can I actually reuse it (in other words to WMC keys get flagged if activation fails not due to multiple installs of same ISO of course)

my notebook and my desktop PC are running the same time, but they have differentt free WMC serial, same "data.dat" file. I think we cant activare free WMC serial anymore if our windows 8 pro was activated with whatever KMS server

no, as these are two different machines with different hashes and therefore cannot be identified as one

That is what I thought as well! But then quinotto pointed out that the same data.dat file was used with different wmc serial key which cleared out the matter.

Anyways I am trying to create the windows 8 pro with WMC iso and am trying to source out and replace the data.dat. Any pointers to where I can find a valid one?

Thanks a MILLION so if I got you right -

- I can STILL go the route of creating the win 8 pro iso with WMC but with valid dat and generic key and then activate later? using what suggested method?
- Also if I have 2 valid serial WMC keys, I would be able to use the same ISO and install it on 2 machines?
- Finally would this be a permanent activation ?

Dear friends I installed Win8 PRO x86, first activated via Phone Activation (MAK Key) on 26 Nov , then Upgrade to WMC with the key provided by MS by mail which converted the copy in Legit permanent activation by online on 06 Dec. And after that it was running just fine since .Yesterday i check the following command;"slmgr /ato" just for my curisity.Then after that my window deactivated with error on same boot. Free WMC key can only be activated with retail keys. No MAK & KMS activation is legal.


2nd its activated so every thing is normal...

 

Bro but mine activated with mak key. Are this rare case.In future may this deavtivated.And one more thing my window update fine without error Thanks

 

No its not rare case mine too activated same way but now MS blocked this method & slmgr /ato will mark it as not genuine..
So for how long that activation will remain genuine only M$ knows..

Till date updates are not targeting piracy, I think they are busy in fixing there buggy release only.
