I wasn't telling you what to do, I was simply suggesting you save your time and the hassle

 

I expect the overwhelming majority of MDL members who have activated Windows 8 don't intend to run it as their default OS. Out of boredom, I've been wasting time experimenting with this disappointing release.

At it's present state windows 8 is in no way ready for my main PC .. That's my vote but I play with it daily trying to keep an open mind .. It's going to be a long courtship I can tell that already

No fan of Windows 8, BUT its like taking horrible medicine for a cold.

I wont get any better unless I keep using it.

 

Log in directly to Start Screen (by passing Lock Screen and Password) within 30 secs

Log out immediately within 1 sec and completely power down within 15 secs

And it is not even with Core I5

Nice simplification of the process, works for me too to get activated.

With your procedure, I found that the date is still that of the original data.dat. However, since you and some other people have reported that they occasionally seemed to have been able to get the activation date to be todays' date, I went digging to see how it can be achieved, and I think I found a reproducable method.

To switch the activation date to be today's date, on a system already activated with any copy-a-data.dat method: Go offline, type "slmgr /ato", reboot.

I've been utterly confused with what to do. So I'm hoping someone can help me.

I have installed Windows 8, used KMS activation, then installed the WMC upgrade already, and now it tells me i need to activate it. I did install while connected to the internet, if that makes a difference. I'm seeing all these things talking about data.dat files in the Spp-Store folder, but all i see is tokens.dat and the cache folder. Can someone point me to what i need to do, to get a fully activated copy without having to restore or anything that would upset my workflow?
