Can report that as of today the WMC activation with the Data swap continues to work without any hiccups, in fact its got soooo easy I can do it in my sleep.

Just did another computer and all ok.

I don't understand why M$ doesn't shut this down, perhaps its a little too hard to do without affecting legit owners. Plus I don't think M$ wants it known there ultra pirate proof system has holes in it, after all, that was susposed to be one of its selling points.

who knows. I don't see M$ doing much til SP1 comes out - me thinks

Not possible because this option will be available after Jan 2013 the only difference is you will need to pay for it.

remember there are a many users has free WMc update from their win 8 pro retail as well ( not pirated one of course ?)

Do you have to really pirate when all you have to do is request a WMC key for permanent activation? just sign up for a hotmail account and request a key and you get it the next day :D

Thanks guys. For me, it doesn't work anymore (100% exact same procedure I used before). Do you guys have all the Windows Updates installed?
If I have some time left, I will do a final test (probably with the Wazzup data.dat), then give up.
..well, "give up" is relative, because the ATM restore *does* work for me (on x86 and x64), also have 2 Enterprise KMS setups, so enough stuff left to fiddle around with.

What worry me is that if you run slmgr /ato you get immediately deactivated. So M$ has only to come with a WGA update that will just do that !

Absolutely nothing. As long as you dont over activate your key, no worries.

I legally bought my key so yea, compared to people fiending off the WMC-KMS method I'm no where close to being a pirate. My key is legit and its installed on my own personal machines. If XP and Windows 7 can survive WGA checks with phoned in activation on legal keys on a few computers, Windows 8 will do just fine.

Too bad we dont know the activation cutoff point on Windows 8 upgrade keys for deactivation. I know on my Windows 7 OEM system builder key after the 14th activation it was blocked.

Now what makes people think that there machine will fail. Right back to XP days, you could keep your machine activated by simply avoiding the WGA - Check. 99% of updates don't require WGA checks, and the few that did could easily be found on the net. So its not a worry. Further M$ has made a mistake thinking windows 8 is very secure. As long as you back up spp files, then its simple to reactivate your copy if it gets de-activated.

Worse for M$, I doubt M$ will bring on WGA anytime soon. The whole point of Windows 8 was it didn't need WGA, it was that secure. It would be a major blow to M$ if they brought it back. And most of all. This is not a pirated solution as such, THIS IS M$ FAULT. They have left a loophole a mile wide and we are exploiting it. So they will not push a WGA for there own mistake, it just looks bad.

I see a indepth WGA check coming for SP1/Windows Blue (like Vista) to get the new features, BUT by then the cats well and truly out of the bag.

I personally am not even worried about any future talk of WGA (then again I have been wrong too many times in the past)
