that kinda sucks ill have to try to get everyone switched over before then my wife HATES windows 8 lol but the kids played with it and love it so they normally win lol.
okay so wait... i can just take a hard drive install it into the various systems install pro 8 and then wmc and simply back up tokens and then in a few months restore it to those systems?? are we sure this will work..if so it will be a bit of work but for sure doable.....
It should work. Just remember to freshly install Win 8 and WMC on each system, i.e. wipe the hard drive as you move it between computers.
OK, now I get it... It's a good tip, if it wasn't for the fact that most of my family and friends own notebooks. My solution would be to install Grub4dos on their systems and hide the partitions from eachother (not necessary, I know, but that's how I usually do it). Problem is, I don't really care enough for my family and friends to go through all the trouble to save them a couple bucks. Besides, that's two systems for them to screw up and complain to me about Just kidding: Of course I would like them to have a free sparkling new OS, but they probably won't share my enthusiasm about this anyway ("Hey, don't you know about the new Win8ProWMC with free MS key and ultraclean data.dat?", they would probably have me put away ).
lol yea most of my friends are happy for me to fix there pc's but think I am mad when i try to explain how and why its only 24 hours difference i think if you work on the 31st you will be fine
So from my understanding, you don't have to worry about the WMC keys if you at least activate the key once before the end date M$ has given. And once activated for the first time, the keys will be able to be reused after the set end date on Jan 31st 2013 Right? If so I'm going to activate my two keys on my laptop.
I had Windows 8 Pro installed using a Retail ISO with Retail key but activated. I activated after changing the Retail Key to an VL Key, used the Free WMC key for to add WMC to the Windows 8 pro and got fully activated as Windows 8 Pro WMC. Today I used an ISO of Windows 8 Pro with added WMC to install on that same machine and used the Free WMC Key just before end of installation and got fully activated again, using the same already once used WMC Key. The only hardware difference were that I used an other HDD with 320GB instead of 500GB. I'll may try the same again on an totally different machine using the exact same WMC key and let see it will work or not!
same machine different hard drive no problem ... but for different machine you need different key since the one you use is tied to the earlier system

Absolutely true Have two the same machines even the same mainboard , only one has a AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core QL-60 and the other a AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core QL-62. Try to restore activation vice versa and does not work
You MUST use a Retail ISO/DVD and NOT a GVLK ISO/DVD for installation. Those ISO's differs a bit and on GVLK you could not install WMC! Look my post #30 above!
what will happen is activation got rejected So that mean the key is tied in combination of mainboard + processor, since we can still change hard drive or put memory module, etc. So as long we don't change board or processor the activation is still intact
If your system was proper activated before, it should normaly work. For me the only key refuses to be accepted is one i ordered vie an instant mail account.
can you do a clean install with a WMC key received in the email from M$? or does the system needs to be activated first?
