i have activate vi this server : slmgr -skms 147.134.1.42 slmgr -ato and i used this key gvlkProfessional =
Just remove the God damned key, it doesn't matter if it was available all over the Internet, it's not allowed to post them here.
Thank you for removing the key. What I was looking for was what key to use not the actual key. I have tried a number of keys with both x64 and x86 Windows 8. The Versions of Windows 8 I am using are x64 Pro VL 917699 and x86 Pro VL 917830 Should I be using a different Version of Windows 8 I did a clean install of the x64 version I have with the key from MS site and still there is no WMC in the list of add features and it will not take the upgrade key that I received through email. Any help would be great. I do have a copy of Windows 8 RTM x64 MSDN # 915440 if that is the one I should be using.
Code: I do have a copy of Windows 8 RTM x64 MSDN # 915440 if that is the one I should be using. yes you should, The VL will not work. en_windows_8_x64_dvd_915440.iso MD5: 0E8F2199FAE18FE510C23426E68F675A SHA-1: 1CE53AD5F60419CF04A715CF3233F247E48BEEC4 You need to install with a retail key, change key to gvlk and use KMS to activate, then go to start screen and just start typing "add features" and it should bring up a search. Click "settings" on the right and then on the left you should see Add features. You do not want the "turn on or off" features. And then enter your WMC key and follow along ( I did a "slmgr -ckms" after kms activation just in case, I do not know if it was needed but did it)
Yes I already tried the MSDN # 915440 with the GVL key from the MS site and it installed without any problem. Did not have to put in retail key. All went well. Have WMC update and activated. I do not understand why with the other versions x64 917699 or x86 917830 they do not work. Both of these are the ones that came to me from my CSVLK and they both activate with my company kms. Have sent off a message to MS but no response as of yet.
I am running Win8 Pro x64. I applied for and got the WMC key which I duly installed and then activated. Slmgr /dlv now shows activated, retail, 1000rearms. No countdown days. Assuming fully activated right??

You can do...but to restore backup, you will need an install-media with wmc integrated, even in case, you cannot use upgrade key after january 2013. Can recommend a full-sytem-image-backup with windows onboard solution, or more comfortable Acronis True Image Home 2013. Regards
So best to do a clean install, then the wmc thing then image yes. and then install programs etc later?
Better install all you need, and make system comfortable for you to use, then backup the whole thing.
One further question. Is it possible to just backup the system/32/spp/store to have the activation data for future installs. I read somewhere that it was possible?
