I think they stopped media center key because many users have w8 pro installed before and activated for free with kms..
I paid for my Win8 Pro online and still waiting for my WMC key, hoping Microsoft will release some later.
Code: Thank you Your product key will be emailed to you. If the email doesn’t arrive in your inbox, be sure to check your junk email folder. The service was working ok. If the Microsoft have stopped from sending keys, this service was unable to complete the request sending other message to the user. I see a overload on the server because too many requests.
So in the future, do I reinstall with the Media Center key or with one of my MSDN:AA/Dreamspark keys? In other words, is this an add-on key or a full key?
I'm one of the people who have yet to receive their free Media Center W8 keys...my retail version of Windows 8 gets delivered this afternoon (which is when I'll start my gigantic 12+ hour reformat/reinstall of all of my data and goodies), and I want to be able to use WMC v8 as soon as I possibly can. I'm just wondering if I were to stockpile craploads of these keys for Windows Media Center 8, and I needed to install it on another machine in say 2-3 years down the road when MS is charging $12.49 USD for the same thing. I'm going to go ahead and grab at least a dozen keys using fake e-mail addresses just to have a reservoir of them for such a need.
I registered for 2 offers (14.99$) upgrades this night. Got them as soon as i had pressed i agree on the upgrade offer site they arrived in my mail box, i then followed the instructions bought the keys, reinstalled windows without any upgrades and it accepted them both as normal keys with activation . Im also only waiting for the free WMC keys.
Methinks the key server is the one that's chugging away slowly - judging by the way the keys are generated on Dreamspark...it takes a good few seconds! multiply that by a gazillion requests / second - then u'll understand - so patience guys - hopefully we'll all be watching movies on WMC this weekend LOL
