I finally got mine too interestingly, my KMS activated Windows 8 no longer has a timer on when it will expire, so yay Can't wait for the rest of my keys to arrive
^^^^^^^ Very intersting. When you install the key for media center your product key changes and I beleive your product ID does. Hypothetically wouldn't be interesting if installing the media center keys permanently activated a kms install? Probably not, MS couldn't be that short sighted. That would be like using OEM keys to upgrade SLP installs of premium to ultimate.
One question: If i have activated by DreamSpark Win 8 Pro, after install Media Center (key) my system will be blocked or i can't it activate? How does it work?
That is exactly what happens, the new key works the same as a purchased retail upgrade key would, so whatever activation method was used, the new key will convert to a permanently activated media centre version
My guess is that you would be able to install and activate at a later date but these free keys must be activated by jan-feb 2013. In other words, if you reinstall in march you may have lost your WMC. Not sure if reactivations are affected or if it is just the first activation that matters.
Lol! actually it's 5 + 10 (if you get mcenter key for free)! How about phone activation (instead of KMS), anyone tried this trick?
Friends, I can comfirm that the free key used to get Media Center overwrites an existing activation. Basically if you activated with a KMS server, and if you use the free key, your copy of Windows gets activated forever. Money spent in total for Windows 8: $0 Thank you Microsoft for the early Christmas present!
Yeah looks like it does. I entered my MC key, it did it stuff, and now the last few didigts of the key are different to my original key. Also, Watermark has appeared for some reason!?
remember free key only activate one machine and only for one time activation ( no re activation ) I tested with my 2laptop and One desktop .
