Theoretically yes. However I can not be 100% certain since I have not tried Windows 10 yet due to lack of time. It wouldn't hurt restarting it.

The pic you posted is strange since nothing should be written to ControlSet002 (since 8.1).

I guess we have to adjust the tool for Windows 10.

How does the Intel driver act on its own. Does brightness control work? (without AMD installed)

Nope brightness control does not work still can't lower the brightness with my brightness button or using the brightness control it comes up as still unavailable as-well.

    You tried F842, F840, F942, F940 ?

Those used to be HPs favourite FTCs : (

I am out of ideas. Someone brighter might be able to help.

If the Intel driver from MS gives working brightness control .. then you could use that with the newest AMD.

Alternatively what will work is using the exact same Intel driver that HP used (but standalone). If that has working brightness control you will be able to combine it with the newer AMD.

However the Intel driver that HP used is older now.

Someone someday might eventually figure this out. How to calculate FTCs or how it really ticks. Sorry pal!

All Laptops having an Fn-Key for to adjust the backlight, usually push the Fn-key and play with the arrow. Up and down or left and right.

Interesting. Could you elaborate? I have met another HD 4000 Envy 17 3xxx user who has had this problem. The user had an FTC of F000 with the standard 3517 drivers on Windows 7 and could not change brightness.

What is your current FTC? Was uninstalling the monitor all it took?

Will be glad to hear back from you. This might help others.

Buttons are good .. if the driver supports them.

    "CurrentControlSet Intel (0000): 0xf000"
    "ControlSet001 Intel (0000): 0xf000"
    "ControlSet002 Intel (0001): "

    "ControlSet Intelkmd: 0xf842"
    "ControlSet001 Intelkmd: 0xf842"
    "ControlSet002 Intelkmd: "

Just had to uninstall monitor through device manager and then scan for hardware changes and it was back again :)

I don't mean to push you but how come your Intelkmd key is set to F842? This was done via UBR? If so UBR should have also written to ControlSet002 since it is not updated for Win 10 yet. So you most likely re installed the Intel driver and this could just be a left over in Intelkmd.

What would happen if you were to remove F842 and reinitialize the monitor.

Pardon me for the many questions! : )

I removed the F842 and I reinitialize the monitor still seems to work fine.

Thank you I will try to repeat those steps on another Envy Intel HD 4000 machine.
