Thanks, that file allowed me to make progress but not yet where i want to:

Some tools works, some gives error, it shows "Tool requires a supported offline OS" and i have no idea how make it recognize my Win 8 installation. Also defender is not working of course.

I will do the other way around, mount the DaRT wim and put IFW in there.. will be easier maybe.

Are you using the correct architecture when booting from DaRT? You can only use 32 bit tools on a 32 bit installation. Same rules apply for 64 bit as well.

Yeah, i used DaRT x64. I can only run WinPE AMD64 because i have Legacy Boot turned off in the UEFI firmware.

Thanks, that worked but some tools still does not work, like Disk Commander, it fails to find a module.

I tried doing the other way around, it failed totally. IFW does not show up at X:\ after i boot the dart USB, i opened Program Files folder and there was no Terabyte folder in there.. when i mount the wim file from windows and check, i can see the folder there but when i boot it there is no Terabyte folder there. :(

You may need to run recenv.exe for this. Recenv selects an offline OS, which (I think) happens automatically when booting to WinRE with the "repair computer" boot option, and allows choosing one when not running as WinRE.

Maybe it couldn't find %systemdrive\Recovery\{longnumber}\winre.wim. Therefore it is asking for waik.

If you are dual booting - depending how did your installs - you may find win8 dropped it's winre.wim somewhere else - likely on your win 7 partition\Recovery directory.

I put my own custompe.wim in Recovery\longnumber\ and renamed it winre.wim.

    Aomei quite happily used that

There is definitely 64 bit version - I am using it right now.

    Look in "C:\Program Files (x86)\AOMEI Data Backuper\Winpe64"

The installed version is 32 bit - makes sense as it is cross platform.

However, it will make either 32 or 64 bit winpe - the files are all there as above.

You can switch to using the Winpex64 files in your installed version of windows if you like.

    Works fine for me.

Why so confusing, when you can get the files BEFORE DaRT image creation finished (if you checked edit option) from temp folder ie C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Temp\2\DaRT8_Mount_2012.12.27.17.29.18

Thanks... i see now that there is a Winpe64 folder but it still does not want to use winre.wim, i have only Windows 8 and i am 100% sure that the winre.wim is on the HDD.

Do you have Windows 7 or 8? You are using AOMEI Data Backuper 1.0? Can you take screenshot when you create bootable media so i can see?

Aomei seems to only check for %systemdrive%\Recovery\{whateverguid}\winre.wim

If your winre.wim is anywhere else - it won't be found.

If you are only running win 8 - then it is probably in the Recovery folder on the hidden 350mb system partition.

Try copying the recovery folder from the hidden system partition onto the root of your win8 partition.

    Aomei may find it then.

I can't post screenies or links on this site yet.

    Also - did you try X:\Windows\System32\ERDLogon.exe X:\sources\recovery\tools\MSDartTools.exe

That allows you to close msdarttools, then fire it up again and select another windows root.

You could make a shortcut to do it - assuming you have some kind of explorer going in your pe .

I am using windows explorer in my pe builds ( I had to cheat and port win7 explorer into winpe 4 because win8 explorer is so crippled.)

Tihiy's app is good for that.

It looks like you are using TBLauncher as your Shell.

I might have a little play with that.
