I haven't found any problem on Windows 8 WMC using the BETA 2 here.. Maybe the problem is with your keys that is only for upgrade or requires activation? I've activated an x86 system and restored on a x64. I'll install a clean copy of Windows 8 WMC x86 and see the results.
Installed the Windows 8 Pro with WMC x86 RETAIL and has been activated the system. Remembering that my activation is RETAIL also. I'll try to test on a Windows 8 PRO WMC x86 VL and see the results.
Hi there. And thank you Josh for such a wonderful application that has been working for me. I have a question though. I activated Windows 8 pro using a retail key that got out on msdn. The key has not been black-listed yet. ATM 3.5 beta 2 has been working fine with me so far. However if the key gets blacklisted in the future, will I not be able to use my current backup to activate fresh install of windows?
Agreeing with this text: An blocked key will be down in some hours of use with the internet. The time may vary depending of the computer. This tool isn't advisable to work with non-genuine activations.
Thanks for the quick response. Is there anything that I can do with the services or any registry to stop the windows from running the product genuine check once it's activated through Advance Token Manager? I'm saying this because I have seen the phone activation method working directly for a lot of people once they choose to restore the backup. The very same key may not work directly for online activation. This is why phone activation is required on those keys. So if that can work, why not online activated keys as a perm. backup?
Online and Phone activations method is basically the same. For stop these checks, you need to modify the activation system patching or deleting system files. It isn't recommended and can brick other Microsoft products that directly / indirectly depends of the Software Protection Service. An good example for this is the old "REMOVE WAT" exploit that modify a lot of system files. With the updates the method will fail certainly.
The tool you are using, is now available to other members? Where can I find it? Keep up the great work ...
Dear Josh, I just test, my version is the PRO x64 vl, say how procedures and you tell me if it was a valid test: First I activated using KMS 147.134.1.42 and activated normally, then, as a precaution, I did a manual copy of the entire folder "spp", then ran the Advanced Tokens Manager v3.5 BETA 2.exe as admin, as Win8 mode normal after the backup successfully performed by software, compared the files from my backup manual with the software, and apparently are equal, then open the command prompt as admin, and slmgr.vbs / rearm ... came the message that the windows needed to restart and be activated ... restarted open the ATM again, ran the restore, reported error ... I am attaching the images and log the ATM ... after that I tried to put the key xxx vl standard and not accept giving the message that in one version ... etc ... I decided to restart in safe mode to try to put my minimum manual backup again, but do not know why after restart in safe mode, I decided to return to normal and to my amazement he returned fully activated ... A big hug. Marcelo "Sushi" PS: I built this machine just to test the MDL solutions ... These here are the pictures... Your activation system looks corrupted. I haven't seen but the "slmgr /rearm" method can't be executed while the license channel is VL. An possible solution is reinstall the system and try to restore the activation again. Your activation system is corrupted because the slmgr command IMO. Reinstall -> Restore - It's an good way to renew the activation without any activation change. Some slmgr commands can't be executed while VL license is installed.
Josh, the most intriguing is that the command slmgr.vbs / rearm returned with the message that my Win8 needed to be restarted to be reset, and when it restarted again being in the reporting period, ie, as if it had not been activated yet. But after he booted in safe mode and doing absolutely nothing, rebooted into normal mode he turned back, as if the ATM had done the work normally without errors ... That intrigued me ... You can see in the pictures ... is active, already installed other software to test, drivers, rebooted 10 times and continues to show that it is activated in response slmgr.vbs / dlv ... volume license activated 180 days.
Then is Ok now? I understood something else because the image order.. But the Windows 8 PRO can't act as trial because we haven't the key for it. If you want to deactivate an system is good the use of "slmgr -upk" and "slmgr -rilc"
I've tested myself the Backup / Restore of an Phone Activation of MAK using the RTM Windows 8 Professional from x64 to x86 and from x64 to x64 on my real machine and always has been restored the activation status without any problem. Currently I'm backing again to the Windows 7 after many Windows 8 bricks and reinstalls (Class not registered) because the Adobe Master Suite CS5.5 (Yes, I'm crazy). I always have disliked the Windows 8 concept and now is concrete with this problems with "old needed" Windows 7 applications. I have snapshoted many versions of this O.S. on my Virtual Machines and it only will be needed for my developments in order of this Windows 8.
