I'll do some tests here, but it not looks very safe, and the activation system can be down sometimes... A.T.M. checks for RemainingGracePeriod and LicenseStatus, if is 0 and 1, the license is able to be backed-up. KMS Host license description is flagged as 'VOLUME_KMS_W7' for Windows 7 and 'VOLUME_KMS_W8' for Windows 8 that isn't VOLUME_KMSCLIENT........
Awesome news the Office 2013 manual input key isn't very convenient, specially if the key is unfortunately lost some day.
@josh 1 doubt---->i had installed JUST "windows 8 pro"(x64) on my laptop and got it activated by KMS method(so i couldn't use ATM for backup). but i had a key for WMC upgrade, and i did it successfully and now my system became permanently activated, but it became "windows 8 pro with media center" from just "windows 8 pro" and now i was able to use ATM for my backup, at the same time i had OFFICE 2013 "PREVIEW" installed(but its x86 and running without errors). so upon using the ATM it made a backup of "windows 8 pro with WMC(x64) with office 2013(15) preview(x86)" and the backup was made successfully. MY DOUBT IS now whether i can use the same backup to activate my fresh installation of windows(but this time i install windows from [WINDOWS 8 PRO WITH WMC.iso] instead of just [WINDOWS 8 PRO.iso]) as my backup was made under windows 8 pro with wmc(even though my initial installation was from [windows 8 pro.iso] and as the backup was made along with office 2013 preview, should while restoring the backup, this office 2013 be installed???? i ve also restored my license backup using ATM 3.5 beta 3 which only stores windows activation backup. again 1 more doubt--->in my last querry u said that ATMs can't be used to activate windows on other machines as these are HARDWARE SPECIFIC. but if i make a system image of my activated windows, can that be used to install the pre-activated windows on other machines??
and also in my backup file in the config.ini file, the serial key which it shows is actually the UPGRADE key i used to upgrade from just "PRO" to "PRO with WMC" so-->it was the key which CAN"T b used for installation purposes and was meant only for upgrading purposes. but my back-up was made successfully both by ATM 3.5 beta 3(only windows backup made even though office was installed) and beta 7(backup made for both windows and office). so ll there be any problem if i use the restore on DEACTIVATED version of windows 8 pro with wmc FOR REFERENCE------------>the image file of windows 8 pro with wmc is either available in the net or can be custom made using DEPLOYMENT AND IMAGING TOOLS (cmd) provided that you have a windows 8 pro image file and WMC present in the system in which u r using the ddeployment tools.
Hi Josh Cell I have my laptop windows 8 pro with media center, I backup the acvtivation. then i upgrade my ram from 4 gb to 8 gb. could i restore my win 8 activation after I clean install my laptop?
Slic Hey All, Need a small Info. In the description, its written that in order to restore the activation details "You must have the correct SLIC (Software Licensing Description Table) for OEM activations." Can anybody please tell me, where can i find the SLIC information. Thanks in advance.
The SLIC is embedded on your BIOS. If you haven't emulated it using other activation tool, it will remains on your system after the reinstallation.
It's normally OK, I regularly use a system image made by Acronis, I recently switched from HDD to SSD, no need to reactivate
Are there any plans or ways to have the backed up tokens put into a folder name based on the computer name it was taken from or prompt where you want to save tokens to? Reason I ask is because I have to take the current backed up tokens out of the default backup folder before I can backup tokens from a different computer. Other than that this program is a life saver big time. Thanks for all the hard work put into it. -MC
