@Josh Cell Hi Josh I have one more question.. I tried to restore a backup I've made some hours ago and it showed me an error, then I checked the log file and that's what it was showing: Starting the Activation Restore on Microsoft Windows 8 Pro with Media Center at 22:38:56 of 2012/12/01 with Advanced Tokens Manager v3.5 RC 2 by Josh Cell Software's [ 22:38:56 ] Disabling the Network connections [ 22:38:57 ] Success [ 22:38:57 ] Preparing the activation system for the activation restore [ 22:38:57 ] Stopping Software Protection Platform Service [ 22:39:00 ] Restoring the Tokens.dat [ 22:39:00 ] Success [ 22:39:00 ] Restoring the Data.dat [ 22:39:00 ] Success [ 22:39:00 ] Starting the Software Protection Platform Service [ 22:39:04 ] Writing the Product Key [ 22:39:04 ] Installing the product key number: 1 [ 22:39:07 ] Success [ 22:39:07 ] Stopping Software Protection Platform Service [ 22:39:10 ] Restoring the Activation Files [ 22:39:10 ] Restoring the Tokens.dat [ 22:39:10 ] Success [ 22:39:10 ] Restoring the Data.dat [ 22:39:10 ] Success [ 22:39:10 ] Starting the Software Protection Platform Service [ 22:39:14 ] Rebuilding the Activation System [ 22:39:14 ] Checking the restored activation files integrity [ 22:39:15 ] Activation files integrity doesn't match [ 22:39:16 ] Backup has been restored with success [ 22:39:16 ] Checking if license reinstall is needed for this activation [ 22:39:16 ] Is needed. [ 22:39:35 ] Enabling the Network connections [ 22:39:35 ] Success Thank you for using this software. Why it didn't reactivate my windows 8???
@dragosXX7 Are you changed any hardware part, as HDD or Memory? Also, try to update your drivers to the same as the backup and restore again, also it can cause problems on the restore, in order to the problem is by the operating system, not by the program.
No I didn't change any harware part. I reinstalled windows 8 pro in a virtual machine (parallels desktop 8) to try the backup/restore solution. I didn't install any driver when I made the back up and didn't install any driver when i restored the activation. Maybe it's because the virtual machine or something of it... I really don't know. What do you think??
You can't restore a real machine activation in a virtual or vice-versa. Virtual machines are hardware emulated, so it's totally different from the real hardware.
I activated windows 8 on a virtual machine and then I made a backup. Then I reinstalled windows 8 also in a virtual machine and made the restored and didn't work. Both were done on a virtual machine (parallels desktop 8) (sorry for my insistence but I really need that backup) P.D.: I have a copy of windows 8 of an online purchase, and in the .iso, in the folder "source" I have a file called "install.esd" but I want the "install.wim" file. I need it because I want to make a dvd with windows 8 pro+WMC and I need that file. Any idea??
Virtual machines generate different hardware ID each time you install windows, so you can't restore a previous activation. Be carefull, I losted a Windows 8 retail key because of this I activated Windows once in the virtual machine, deleted it by mistake. When I did another install, my key didn't worked, Windows says " used on another computer "
I made tests with VMWARE, VIRTUALBOX and VIRTUAL PC - All it are working flawless with Activation Backup / Restore on Windows 8 Pro With Media Center product keys. I haven't sure on how is the problem in question, but I can say that isn't with the Advanced Tokens Manager. Simply the Operating System are rejecting the restored activation by some reason. And you can't backup your virtual machine activation to install on a next Windows installation, because the hardware of this applications isn't static.
I think KMS Activation Backup is not supported in the new Token's Manager. Only Phone Activation or WMC Upgrade Activation is supported along with Office 2013.
well ok ill fix it. it just loops all available activation IDs... a resinstall should work on your office stuffs. i only uninstall keys on restore and before the tokens are replaced. so the activation data for office remains untouched.. GUYS!!!! My new DVD AutoRestore program supports this. stay tuned im working with mr cell and getting his feedback before i release it
KMS Activations isn't supported since BETA 4. This activation model is crappy and unsafe for restore, because a lot of the registry traces. You never will restore an Office 2010 or 2013 in Windows 7 and Office 2010 on Windows 8 KMS Activation with any application, because it leave a lot of registry traces on SPP registry key, so we can't backup it because in many cases can brick the service on a new installation.
