hi Josh Cell. I have Windows 8 activated through phone. I have made backup of activation with advanced tokens manager. now I installed Windows 8.1 preview clean install from iso and tried to restore the activation but it didn't work. it says its another OS and cant restore it. I think this is because Windows 8 is 6.2 build and Windows 8.1 preview is 6.3. can you make Advanced Tokens Manager to work in Windows 8.1 preview or final Rtm version? I mean you can make the program to ignore the build number from 6.2 to 6.3 and do the restore of backup successfully. is it possible? maybe my problem of not restoring the backup has to do because its a preview build with a time bomb at 15-01-2014 and not the final Rtm? I don't know, you are the expert in this. great job, great program. I hope you can fix this to be able to restore our backups from Windows 8 into Windows 8.1. be well my friend!!! Spiros.
here's my log file: Disabling the Network connections Success Starting the Software Protection Platform Service Preparing the activation system for the activation restore Writing the Product Key Fails Stopping Software Protection Platform Service Restoring the Activation Files Success Starting the Software Protection Platform Service Rebuilding the Activation System Checking the restored activation files integrity Activation files integrity doesn't match Critical error when restoring: [ Activation files restore error ] / [ Invalid Product Key ]. Enabling the Network connections Success I guess it doesn't accept the key because its a preview version right?
Works fine restoring Win8 WMC to Win8.1 WMC - just change Product Version: Windows 8.1 Pro Preview with Media Center Build: 6.2 - doesn't matter Code: Starting the Windows Activation Restore on Windows 8.1 Pro Preview with Media Center at 19:30:14 of 2013-06-28 with Advanced Tokens Manager v3.5 BETA 1 by Josh Cell Software's [ 19:30:14 ] Disabling the Network connections [ 19:30:15 ] Success [ 19:30:15 ] Starting the Software Protection Platform Service [ 19:30:16 ] Preparing the activation system for the activation restore [ 19:30:36 ] Writing the Product Key [ 19:30:37 ] Success [ 19:30:37 ] Stopping Software Protection Platform Service [ 19:30:38 ] Restoring the Activation Files [ 19:30:38 ] Success [ 19:30:38 ] Starting the Software Protection Platform Service [ 19:30:42 ] Rebuilding the Activation System [ 19:30:42 ] Checking the restored activation files integrity [ 19:30:42 ] Activation files integrity doesn't match [ 19:30:43 ] Backup has been restored with success [ 19:30:43 ] Checking if license reinstall is needed for this activation [ 19:30:44 ] Is needed. not working for me my friend to rename the config ini. I tried with backup with mak seriak and backup wth retail serial. none of them worked. please check it. be well my friend. thank u!!!
The backup key does not matter. At first you will need to restore the activation around the same Windows edition. The Windows 8.1 involves a remodeled kernel and it is not a service pack, but a new operating system as an update to the Windows 8 users. You may have problems when restoring it across both platforms. Safest way: Install the Windows 8 -> Restore -> Update to Windows 8.1 -> Backup -> Install the Windows 8.1 -> Restore the Windows 8.1 activation previously backed-up.
with that way worked. but I guess when the 8.1 RTM version releases you have to update the program for the new Windows 8.1, or make it to recognize the editions of Windows, if its possible!!! be well, thank you!!! Spiros.
It is already working fine without problems. The 'detection' is not a bug since the update is a new operating system, so you also will have to backup the activation again.
ok, I test it again this time with new key, fresh install and phone activation. Windows 8.1 Pro Preview was activated fine. after activation I made a backup of activation. then I made again a fresh install and tried to restore the backup that I was before created. but it didn't worked and Windows 8.1 Pro Preview was not activated with the restore. please try it and you'll see that its not working the restore. I did it 3 times. all times I wasn't able to activate it with the restore. please more people check this so Josh Cell will fix it!!!

the same log file that did not activate Windows 8.1 as you I had all the times my friend!!! we have to wait for Josh Cell to do his magic again!!!
The Config.ini backup of both is wrong but can not break the restore at all... Anyway I will take a look around here.
My bad.. I did a rearm to deactivate to test reactivation.. bad idea as it reset CMID and the backed up tokens would obviously not 'see' the machine as the same...if u just /upk to test it works.. Josh.. maybe backup the CMID and check on restore?
Could you describe step by step what i must do please ? because i searched on Google but i only found topics about activating Windows 8 for people that haven't activated Windows.
i see good job here, but i need some help cuz i'll try this for 1st time so i need to do it correctly, so im running windows 8 pro x86: 1- should i disable sppsvc "Software Protection Platform Service" before i restore activations and then enable sppsvc when done? or its easy to restore normaly without disable sppsvc? 2- should i restore after installing windows and before running windows update or its ok to restore any time? 3- what the defiance between "Advanced Tokens Manager" tool & "TR TOKEN" tool? Regards & Good Luck
Use Microsoft Toolkit from my signature. Start it and in first screen click the little Windows symbol at the bottom to start the 'Windows Toolkit' part. Go to 'Product Keys' tab and choose matching OS version from the two dropdown menus and press on 'install'. Switch to 'Activate' tab and activate ... DONE! Install WMC and try the Tokens Restore ... GOOD LUCK !
