Actually, they could please everyone - just should've left options to make a choice. For all you mentioned plus some checkboxes to enable startbutton and direct boot to desktop. And whoever hated Aero could just disable it, couldn't they?
^^ absolutely correct. they could have provided options to turn features on or off instead of completely removing them from the os. a choice would have not hurt. they should make windows customizable not restricted.
They could of but they didn't. You want to know why?? Because they are Microsoft and they can do what they want when ever they want to their operating system. At selling an OS for $39, they arnt here to please people, they are here to make as much money as they can because they know people will buy the next greatest thing. They are obviously taking the Apple approach with this one...
I don't understand how people still want to use the "classic" theme. I mean, it was cool back in 1995 or nice for Windows 2000, but we're not living in the 90s anymore. It was meant to die sooner or later, just look at Windows 7 with the classic theme applied and how ugly and half-baked the appearance is at some points, the Start menu, for example. It's the same for the hardware. Who would like to buy a "classic" desktop or laptop PC that looks like made in 1993 anymore? Windows 8 RTM has a decent version of Aero that I came to prefer over the Aero in Windows 7. Every time I go back to a Windows 7 machine, I wonder how "dated" and "overscaled" its UI looks. Now, with the Aero theme scaled back like this, there is no need for a "classic" theme anymore. It has become suitable as a default even for low-end machines. Well, just my opinion...
It seems this thread has fallen a bit off track. It's about methods of recovering Aero glass/transparency not really for discussing our opinion about Aero transparency.
Hello Folks - i'm sad as hell too about the RTM cut - been using DP/CP/RP the whole year and been so happy with new glass borders ... But thank u all to to bring back TrueTransparency This Programm can do the Job well if they (or somebody else) adapts the Skins a lil i guess I did a lil Screen cap - in real it doesnt lag at all (just russian TT doesnt work - but their skins if u rename the russian symbols and copy em to other TT x68 & x64) damn post count 20^^ ...youtube.com/watch?v=VWiie8UEaC0 ....maybe some "older" one can attach my video ... u have my permission^^
I downgraded to the RP so I could use Aero Glass. Plus, when I upgrade back to the RTM, I'm going to try copying the .dll files from the RP to the RTM so I can use Aero Glass again (maybe). I will reply when I did it. Plus, when I used the RTM theme on the RP, it has less blur then the build 8888 screenshot.
Its not as easy as replacing a few .DLL's my friend. The Windows system does check to see if some checksums are in place to load some DLL's and if they are not there or dont match, you can corrupt your system.
The MS Taiwan guy had said that he will try to bring back the aero glass, just cross your fingers and see if he would have better luck than the previous MS China guy.
Hopefully it does come back properly. 'Windows Blue', due mid year, is the next iteration of Windows. It's basically a large service pack for Windows 8 under the monika of a new OS version (which Microsoft plans to do from now on, with yearly 'new' Windows versions). New information about Windows Blue says that it will even be more neutered in terms of looks in desktop mode, with everything made to look as flat as possible. Seems Microsoft really hopes people are put off normal applications and use Metro Apps instead (which are in many mays, inefficient for destkop/laptop use, from their input method and screen style, to the actual space usage etc). I'm currently away on holidays using a new computer (with Windows 7 and Office 2007 on it mind you). The OS loads very quick, and looks a crapload better than Windows 8! The Office applications are much easier on the eyes to use over time because of the blue's, Office 2013 really is unpleasant, moreso than I originally thought before looking at Office 2007 again! It really is unpleasant to look at with basically the whole screen being white or off-white (in 2013)! Of course this may mean that by the time Aero Glass is brought back to Windows 8, Windows Blue will be out and the whole cycle starts over again!
So, basically, even if Aero glass was reimplemented in Windows 8, once Blue is released it might break the implementation and someone may need to try implementing it again?
When W9 or codename Blue or this kind of stuff will be available, we'll know.Until then I want Aero now.
