I wish to have an Windows 8 tool for transparency and Blur effect from MDL developers...Where are ya,guys...?
Well, at the page where I discovered WinAeroGlass, the developer said that he is working on blur. So, we have to wait, hopefully not 2 MONTHS!!!
Haha, I do recall saying that when a solution for the Aero Glass pops up, it'll most likely be a commercial application. I called it first, guys.
probably Stardock will make this, remember Windows XP? they made the glass there but its strange that they didn't do it yet in Win8
OK, it is done and working nicely. Who wants to test it, send me PM. It is based on HB's Alpha EXE (replaces both Aero8Tuner and bLend) + Specially made themes by Nighthawk, which give the blur... UxStyleCore Unsigned Themes Service is needed as well... (it is only x64) I don't recommend to patch Ux DLLs directly, since MS already updated them 3 times and also with patched uxtheme, uxinit and themeui there is the possibility to brick your computer after Windows Update, so use rather UxStyleCore, if you can (if you have x64 OS). However if you have x32 OS, you have to patch DLLs directly (or send x32 feature request message to Raphael)... Known issues so far to fix: 1. On some computers it also adds 0,5% transparency to the inner window (Mostly can't be recognized by eyes). Limits: 1. Color-tone has to be part of theme itself. It can't be set by windows theme coloring. So each theme has only 1 color-tone only. It doesn't however mean "1 color only", since theme pattern can be made from many different colors. 2. Custom theme has to be made in way to support this technique. If theme doesn't support it, it is either fully opaque or Totally Transparent. Please note, that themes have been done for testing, not with intension to use all the capability of the solution. Final solution will also have 30 specially made custom themes and UI accessible via system tray.
@moderate screenshots look great - are you releasing it or is it only via a pm link - i read a lot here but dont think my post count allows pm's
This is VERY awesome will it be possible to have different coloured glass eventually ? How can I change the font colour I can't read anything with uber glass enabled! THANKYOU so so much been looking forward to this since forever!!!
Colors: Frameborder for concrete window (pattern) can contain more different colors. Color-Tones: Different color-tones (blue, green,...) are possible, but separate theme has to be created for each of them, Windows "Coloring Mechanism" can't be used... Font-Color: In W7, there was advanced settings dialog, in W8 the registry settings can be modified for fonts. \HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowsMetrics... ...however I am not sure, if colors are there too to override theme settings... One issue to fix: 0,5% unwanted transparency added to the inner window on some configurations... ...I have applied strong 3.0 Gamma to demonstrate it, otherwise it is invisible:
The bLend tool can be used, but when used alone it makes the whole window transparent. If someone could find a way to single out window border settings instead of the whole window then we'd be go to go. I cant post links yet but I will when I've posted enough to. you can find it by googling it maybe. Its on 7 pmtech -- no spaces.
I promisse to defeat my laziness and I try to improve the WinaeroGlass application. I want to make it able to re-apply the transparency when theme is changed. Also it is good idea to make tray icon. However, I have no idea how to "fix" elevated windows, which are still glitchy <- this is also very important task.
Stop mentioning that CRAP-Site. They even wanted donations for sharing common knowledge (e.g. KMS Activation Helper) -- LOL!
7PM tech is a bunch of frauds who steal other peoples work / findings and bundled them into a package that contains a few files and a bat scripts. One of the biggest fraudsters around...
Sorry I had no idea about them, in any case I wanted to mention the bLend tool because it keeps the windows border color, but when you turn the transparency setting it makes the whole window become see through. This should only be applied to the window border to make just that transparent and not everything else. And don't forget about the window buttons, they have to stick out and be too much transparent either. I like the work of winaero and I use it alot but one thing about it is if windows are over laying then sometimes text gets jumbled together making it difficult to make out window borders. Of course blend and color options would be nice like in win 7 and win 8 rp. But Im sure some very skilled people will find a way to do this.
Try applying the main Windows 8 Release Preview theme with WinAeroGlass. I got shadows back, and I saw some white color in inactive windows. I also saw the taskbar having that darker shade of color.
